Questions that keep me up at night
« on: December 03, 2015, 12:13:07 pm »

Why do dwarven roofing techniques let light in, but dwarven Up/Down staircases do not?

Do you have any questions about dwarven physics that particularly worry you?

When will DF render my chosen field of study/work irrelevant?

I had a trog give birth while scaling a wall. Just before one of my crossdorfs loosed a bolt at her. The trog baby drowned.
They said the walls were impregnable. You didn't have to prove me wrong by giving birth on them.

I still don't know how they fit a giant boulder into one artifact earring. As well as a log, a gem, many bones. For that matter, "how do they make 11 bones into a fireproof, waterproof floodgate?" Found it in someone's sig somewhere.

Oh, I can answer part of that easily! See, they're not using the bone itself. Just the marrow.

Where does all the water go when fortifications are carved into the edge of the map?  (Perpetual void, or embark riding on the back of a tortoise?)

Also how can floor grates allow water to pass straight through but remain impenetrable to mist?

My last few mood gathered a masterwork stoneware pot and 6 goose bones to create....an artifact bone greaves. Made of goose bone. Spiked with goose bone.

What happened to the pot?

(It's a bit like asking where the bread goes after the toaster gives you back toast.)

It's more like having the bread become toast, but you're suddenly out of milk.
