On the fringes of Galactic Space is a recently settle system classified as as Zeta-987X-8I, or better known as the Blackmartyr System. Though its considered recently settled the sole inhabited planet recognized by the Galactic Council has existed for well over two hundred years, but was only recently excepted as a protectorate of Union of Mankind. Blackmartyr has been settled for over two centuries, but of the six planets and their satellites only two have been truly explored or exploited.

Lying within the Goldylocks Zone is the inhabited planet of Calmar, and it lies alone within what is considered the inner ring of the Blackmartyr system. heading away from the sun is the Red Belt, a dense asteroid belt which seperates Calmar from the rest of the system, which is the reason for Calmar's acceptance as a protectorate.

With the system beginning to go into a new Industrial Revolution due to an influx of funds and settlers from the Union of Mankind the flourishing space industries have allowed thousands of Calmar citizens to achieve better futures. Among those lucky citizens are six individuals brought together to crew a newly obtained vessel for the Macnameer Corporation, one of the up and coming space corps whose welath comes from the Red Belts numerous mines.

Will these individuals find a new, better life in space, or will the harsh reality of Galactic Space catch up to them?

Combat Skills
Marksman -You gain +2 to all accuracy rolls with ranged weapons.

Close Quarters Combatant - You gain +2 to all accuracy rolls with melee weapons in melee.

Rapid Reload - Your reload times are halved with a minimum of one combat round unless otherwise specified.

Hardy - You gain five HP, and you are 50% less likely to be stunned or knocked out.

Stealthy - Tests to detect you have a -2 penalty when you are actively attempting to hide.

Skilled Pilot - +2 to rolls for manuvering small space craft (anything Corvette class or smaller).

Gunnery Savant - When you use a weapons terminal to assist, or use a ship's weapons they gain +2 to accuracy rolls.

Navigations Expert - When you plot the course for your craft's travel plans you do so with an expert efficency giving a -2 to any roll on the flight complications.

Logistical Expertise - With you managing power distribution every generator on the ship you're on produces an additional 2 power.

Basic Repairman - +2 to rolls to repair rolls for basic tech, and +1 to rolls for more advanced tech (warp drives, and such).

Progamming Basics - Allows the creation of basic progams, and modifcation of existing programs for drones, buoys, and the like.

Starting Inventor - When designing items, craft, weapons, etc. you gain a +2 to your invention rolls making the result better.

Charismatic - +2 to charsima based rolls. Convincing someone, haggling, etc.

Freighter - A freighter ship has a large storage capacity, and is more fit for cargo hauling to distant parts of the system than anything else. Equipped with minimal armaments solely for self defense, and fit with rather rugged internal systems.

Salvage Vessel - A Salvage vessel specializes in going to known (or unknown) shipwrecks that haven't been claimed to strip it for parts to sell. Salvage Vessels have moderate storage capacity, ship sized salvaging equipment, and decent armaments for its size in case of potential threats.

Survey Ship - A Survey Ship is meant to explore unknown places, recent battlefield, recently discovered planetary bodies, and gather whatever data they can before taking or sending it back to their employer. Survey ships have minimal storage capacity, built in sensor suites, jump drives, and enough ship based weaponry to hold of small time pirates.

Instead of experience points players will earn Skill Points throughout the game through various methods which will be used to shape their character in whatever way they wish to progress.

Ways to earn Skill Points:
Skill Points can be earned by training, or being taught about a skill though in that case the SP goes exclusively to the skill you're training in. For an example: If you hire an expert programmer to teach you about coding then after you spend a session learning you will earn a number of skill points that go towards the Coding skill, and the amount varies based on luck and the skill of the person teaching you (self study can work, but you don't get a bonus from a teacher).

You will earn a random amount of Skill Points whenever you finish a mission you've taken with the die used being determined by the value, and difficulty of the mission in question meaning the reward can range from a 1d4 to a 1d10 or more. These are skill points that you're free to use as you wish.

Skill Points can also be earned in some special circumstances wherein players manage to achieve something fairly outstanding such as destroying a ship that far outclasses their own, or slaying a creature that would typically have killed all of them.

How to spend Skill Points:
You cannot put your "free" (Free being unassigned SP from missions, and such) Skill Points into a skill you haven't started learning, so only Skills with at least 1 SP towards progression can have Skill Points distributed into it.
Skill Points can be used to advanced existing skills even if that skill has no progress towards the next rank.
You can increase your Health at a 1:2 rate, so every one Health increase requires two Skill Points.

Marathon CSF Generator VII - The Marathon is a widespread, commercial generator meant for small scale space craft and is commonly used in your average corporation freighters, salvage ships, and the like. These power plants are created to be incredibly durable, and easy to maintain so far as to not require a certified engineer to take care of it.

Anmyral Pattern Ship Salvager - A large scale rig designed to make salvaging space ship wrecks and the like far easier. This particular pattern is made up of a number of mechanical grasping arms, cutting arms, and the like designed to swiftly strip a ship into parts before placing them in the storage bay.
   Salvage Speed: 50 units every Twenty Minutes.
   Power Usage: 6 Energy Units while active.

2 Calaxis Commercial Thrusters - A type of engine manufactured by the Calaxis Energy Corporation, this particular model is meant for widespread commercial use and is taken advantage of by countless space corporations.

Dio was the son of a craftsman in Sardinia, recruited into the army at age 16 circa. 1738. Six years later, during the battle of Villafranca, he was supposedly killed in battle according to his comrades, although his body was never found.

In actuality, he was the first live human to make contact with an interplanetary expedition sent by the Machine-Savants of Beta Pictoris about a hundred years prior. The machines had spent some thirty years cataloging human behavior, language, and customs. But some facets of human life such as warfare and politics were completely alien to the machine society; they were instilled with death-feedback systems by their creators, and thus could not intentionally harm or coerce another sapient being. The Savants thought it necessary to collect a live specimen and teach it their language in order to make light of human behavior.

It turns out that this was a very bad idea on their part.


Dio Costanzo was until recently the sole crew of an old, almost dysfunctional vessel unceremoniously dubbed Failed Experiment. A series of major glitches in the limited-AI maintainence network went unnoticed for several years, as Dio made heavy use of the ship's stasis facilities, and wasn't yet awake to deal with major problems. As a result, the vessel broke down recently and Dio was forced to find another one.

Amelia was born a 'spacer'--the term colloquially used in her locality for those born in space; the technology of the time making one's lifestyle just as equal as if they were born on terrestrial Earth. She was raised in the confines of a communications station, orbiting with free access to the many trade routes which connected the area to other sectors. In the years until her young adulthood, she had a passion and affinity for traversing the stars--living on a space station with full view of the beauty of the cosmos was more than enough of a motivator, but the stories she heard from the comm-arrays were her exposure. She was considerably a mature person, mentally and emotionally, when it came to handling 'things her age', given this background.

Before her coming of age, and after finishing her course in Psychology, she was given permission to live her life freely--as her parents were already departed due to both age and life expectations (both lived a full live, with her as the only child). Her first choice was to work as an explorer, given her experience and training with the population of the station she lived in: They were private colonists, self-trained in weaponry, tactics and military strategies as well as communications from sector to sector, inclusive with machinery and biology studies.

Having submitted her resume and identification sheet, she awaited clearance, honing her skills in the meantime, and busied in-betwee by reading one of the many wondrous romantic novels the galaxy could offer.

Thinking of the Salvage Vessel due to its opportunities. With a skilled crew, we can even make our own tech and ships! :3

Violent misconduct, drunk spacedriving, petty bribetaking - the kind of thing that the higher ups can overlook when you're one of the best and make them look good - and stabbing a suspect in the eye with a spacebiro. Faced with prison or early retirement in disgrace, he chose disgrace, and now has to earn another pension before his proper retirement - just him and his century old acoustic guitar - can finally be enjoyed.
Other: I guess you could say some of Neil Aurelius' charisma is in his worn out face - he's seen things, man. He'd never put it like that, though. Not so much scarred as bashed and battered and not far from broken. Hair's a dirty grey. Indistinct accent. Very slightly taller than average. Never turned in his service side arm. Smokes. Tries not to drink.

Tobias was raised in one of the slums of Calmar. He grew up strong and tough, but unlike many of his peers he wanted something better. When he grew up, he moved into teaching self-defense courses, showing others how to defend themselves using the tricks and tools he knew. He was just lucky when the Macnameer Corporation decided to contract him for a new ship, to teach the people on it what he knew and also to work as security if it was necessary.

As for description, Toby is about 5'10, 150 pounds with a lean build. Even though he's only 30, he carries a lot of old scars from his teen years on the streets. He has black hair mixed with a touch of gray (although it is usually close shaved to his scalp) and dark brown eyes.

Bio: Tobias was born to a colony that nestled, buried in the rock of a moon orbiting a hot jupiter-class gas giant. Life was not easy - the colony did not produce enough compared to other, more productive competitors, and suffered an economic downturn. The inhabitants were forced to repair, rebuild, and combine every piece of scrap they could to get by. It was this enivoroment that produced Tobias - a young man, tall from too little grav and thin from too little food. Still, he has an inventors mind, and a knack for repairing what should be completely broken. His eyes are cybernetic, dully glowing green, after one of his inventions detonated bright enough to permanently destroy his eyes.
