Its not too bad without DLC. And the micromanagement is optional depending on country/government-type. THe DLC does make it much better and is pretty cheap on sale, so I would still recommend it. It's just one of the hardest Paradox games to get into.

If the rules discussion/dispute does not directly involve you, the only sound I want to hear is the sipping of eggnog.  My sense of humour on the matter is dwindling rapidly.

The rules-in-total are basically a wall of text...  it sucks, yeah, I know.  A lot of it is simple structure so the thread isn't 4 weeks of pandemonium.  A few things are in there to deal with past issues, or to minimize the potential for errors; stating it up front makes sure there is no guesswork.

I don't enjoy being a bureaucrat or enforcer, but as The Guy, I do have to honour the rules-as-written if I'm to expect anyone else to follow them.  Sometimes that's not fun.

(and now for something completely different!)

Steam's community discount is running till the 16th, which is a Wednesday...  If I was a betting man, I'd say the 16th or 17th is when the holiday sale will start.  That would make two weeks plus a long weekend, if it ends on the Monday after New Year's like usual.

Any guesses on what shenanigans they'll have this year?
