The Carvings of Moldath Fashdishmab, Engraver
24th Slate, 101
Note: I apologize for the giant entry; it seems many more dwarves came than were expected.
Some migrants have arrived. Seemingly out from underneath rocks and hills, as I had no idea there were many dwarves left. Deler Cattentekkud, the first to arrive, says he's a soldier, but also a talented metalsmith and competent doctor. Brendsmalls is rather happy that we're getting a metal industry up and running.
Next is Edzul Oslanroldeth, a priest. He asks if we have a temple yet. I say I just started smoothing its walls. He is happy.
Bembul Cattenosur, a mechanic, says this as soon as she steps in the doors: "I could really use a drink." She then grabs one and gets drunk.
Shorast Nilesis, a tanner and bone doctor, is next. He's married to Bembul, and asks if they could just slow down for a second: he's very quick to tire. He's holding a young turkey, belonging to Bembul.
Dodok Shemtost, an adequate hammerdwarf with a few other skills, including carpentry, fish dissecting, milking, bowmaking, and pressing, is here. She says she is ready to work at whatever we need.
Another hammerdwarf is here: Zas Cilobhal, who says she's never been anything but a soldier. She was glad when she was told the best hammerdwarves in the land were here to teach her, and set herself goals immediately.
Mestthos Edemumer, a fisherdwarf, brewer, and furnace operator, was happy to know that all three of her skills were of use here.
Yes! A talented swordsdwarf named Meng Lurittun, who is also an accomplished fisherdwarf (and a novice butcher and adequate shearer) has arrived. Evidently these dwarves know this is the time to take up the hammer and sword and train, for the hour is at hand when all dwarves will rush for weapons against the enemy.
Tulon Bomrekirtir, a skilled gem cutter, novice miller, and accomplished... lye maker, who is short and likes to eat demon rat (?), leads a stray water buffalo calf to our pastures. Behind comes an eight-year-old child, his son. He is talking about "precise lines" and "the creative impulse". I bet he'll make a great craftsdwarf. He leads a goat kid and a reindeer calf.
Zan Nazomushrir claims to be a high master fisherdwarf! Wait... no, he said "fish dissector." Dissector. How useful. But he says he's a proficient wood burner, an adequate suturer, and he's quite the talented strand extractor. He's worked with the holy metal!
Zuglar Oddomgigin, the jack of all trades. He's a talented trapper, but also a novice weaver, clothier, wood crafter, stone crafter, glassmaker, leatherworker, bone carver, bone doctor, potter, glazer, wax worker, papermaker, and bookbinder. Not a very hard worker, however.
Cerol Endokigath is an adequate mason, an accomplished wax worker, and an adept ambusher. He insists on hunting, especially aardvarks, and is very focused. Not the social dwarf, however.
Athel Ustuthudesh is... a peasant, married to Cerol. She's rather creative, though, and wants to make art.
Erib Regshin is an accomplished animal caretaker, an adequate tanner, a competent clothier, a proficient record keeper, and a novice presser. She says she's been "considering the concept of minerals." Ah, she prays to Datan Dorenas Limul Datan! That explains that.
Tulon Ontakzuglar, a novice soldier, talented miner, and novice fisherdwarf, has arrived. He's short, weak, and clumsy, and doesn't like taking time to work on skills.
Still more come! Tulon's wife follows him. She is a carpenter, and cannot wait to saw and join again. She also is an absolute believer in the rule of law. A veritable menagerie of stray young animals follows her.
Kib Tathdomas, an intimidating blacksmith, is behind the swarm. She is however calm and friendly once you get to know her. I would recommend her for sheriff. ☼☼☼must remember this☼☼☼
Ever the dwarves come! Brendsmalls is delighted that our population is now 35.
Kikrost Olonbesmar, a novice animal dissector, talented butcher, accomplished clothier, and adequate stone crafter. She is scrawny, likes cats, and is dutiful and passive. She likes native gold and its color.
Alath Atulmorul, an animal trainer, cheesemaker, and diagnostician who likes harmony and friendship. He's very focused when he doctors.
Mistem Cattentakuth is right behind him. She's a talented animal caretaker, a competent metalsmith, and a novice leatherworker and bone carver. We are generally happy that we will be able to start many important industries here in Tanglestaves. She's cruel and pessimistic but polite and brave.
Following her is Edem Tamolushrir, a competent carpenter and talented animal dissector. She likes bronze and battle axes, but says she never considered becoming a weaponsmith: she's not focused enough.
Nil Asmelstigaz. He's an adequate wood burner. I'm getting tired, do I really have to engrave one of these for each of the new immigrants? Okay, okay, I'll do it. He has trouble controlling his temper. Good enough? Great. *yawn*
Is it done? Is it finally done? I'm going to sleep now.

And boy did I sleep. 39 dwarves in total now live here. And I am quite grateful that they have come. Why didn't I just say "a bunch of dwarves arrived"? Well, partially because the Cheesemaker told me to... *smack* fine, brendsmalls. The "real" reason is that here, every dwarf is important. We don't know if there are any more dwarves out there: all these dwarves were living in camps or with humans and elves, but heard about Tanglestaves and came here for DWARVENKIND. Now we must rely on babies to bring back the dwarven civilization of the Razors of Calm. We now calmly rest on a razor's edge.
18th Felsite, 101
My wife is working so hard at becoming a swordsdwarf! I've never seen her work so hard before, honestly. She's covered in sweat, yet she persists, practicing slashing, stabbing, blocking, dodging, and striking.
In the tavern, someone's telling a story about the fall of the Razors of Calm. The Wicked Rag-Cruelties, curse their name, defeated us and pillaged Faintedsteel in the midwinter of 63, that accursed winter.
19th Felsite, 101
The three swordsdwarves are all sparring together. I am smoothing Ezum's bedroom. The miners are working on something near the river.
23rd Felsite, 101
Brendsmall announced today that Shosa Ethrabuslon, a human pikewoman, petitioned to reside in Tanglestaves for the purpose of soldiering. With great happiness he approved the petition. She's a competent soldier, and twenty-five years old. She's always dreamed of becoming a legendary warrior, and thinks that here is the right place to do so. The first thing she did was argue with a dwarf about the value of stoicism. Heh, she'll do fine here.
27th Felsite, 101
Since the pastures are growing shrubs, our herbalist is collecting them.
Shosa tells the story of the rise of a necromancer as law-giver of her human civilization. No wonder she left.
Ebir Simonerib, a human lasher, has joined us. He's happy to do so.
2nd Hematite, 101
Summer is here! Udil is a talented swordsdwarf, top of her squad!
4th Hematite, 101
There are no fish in the river. The immigrant fisherdwarves have fished not a single guppy. How unfortunate.
13th Hematite, 101
Some humans have arrived, and brendsmalls traded our hoard of crafts for their wood, metal, and food.
