Also shopkeepers are not good RP targets.  And the people that Alanis has cultivated relationships with are almost never about.  (Sandra, ItE, etc.)

I don't recall Alanis ever expressing anything beyond the meta stuff besides general frustration at shenanigans with ENG, which is hardly a unique character trait.

And if you have aspects of a character which never show up at all? Well, then the character doesn't really have those traits, otherwise we should be seeing some non-meta topics from her... but we don't. Even her conversation with Alice has in fact had meta stuff in half or more of Alanis' replies, it's just that Alice and USEC chose to ignore it altogether.

Lidia for example had a BUNCH of secrets, and though she never directly revealed them before the game flatlined, I consciously had them affect her every action, and give multiple facets to her personality for me to work on and create different topics and conflicts (a LARGE one was bubbling up before the game died). I don't see this for Alanis.

When you wake up, TBF, I ask you this: do you have any intention of listening to us, here? I don't ask this to be snide, mean, or nasty, but do you actually intend to develop Alanis outside of the meta stuff? If you don't, the conversation is basically moot and the problem wouldn't be solved. There would be another argument, and the cycle of fighting over Alanis would just restart.

Yes they are! They've got their own lives and personalities. Sure they aren't PCs, but how she determines the materials she needs, how she looks up and finds the shops, how she enters it and asks for the materials matter. And often in these kind of games, the GMs don't mind partially fleshing out an NPC if you show that you're willing to put some work in the exchange yourself.

Furthermore you never addressed the point why she doesn't talk to the other crafters or magicians about crafting. I mean Mio's guantlets magically sprouted shotguns, Dackly & Gozer seem friendly enough and are crafters, not going to ask them for help or their opinion?
Just because no other PC is there to see it doesn't make it unimportant. Remember when in Red Moons people started describing their character's morning routines in detail?

Yeah, I doubt the people criticizing Alanis are going to ever change their mind with the status quo, so Fish, you might as well stop responding if you aren't willing to back down either.

I am being very much specific with my request that Alanis be developed outside of meta stuff because just "toning it down" is going to be meaningless if that's the only thing Alanis is focused on at all, and because it would just be a temporary solution anyway. This way, there is actually something else to focus on.

And I'm being as insistent as I am about it because I don't want the criticisms and suggestions here just to be ignored or avoided, thus setting up another predictable round of the exact same fighting IC and OOC that I've seen a billion times. I want a decisive answer, so a permanent solution may be reached.

I think it's rather moot to make a character that doesn't have specific interests, goals, and fleshed out details... unless you want them to develop them later. Which is cool. But I've seen neither from Alanis, personally :V
