How about mundane or something? I don't know why I have problem with the word normal itself, I just do. :P

Yet another Progress Update.
« Reply #16 on: October 31, 2015, 04:31:21 am »

Upgraded the saving functionality to allow for custom slot names.

It is surprising the amount of work needed to code and polish some features that we taken for granted in AAA games.
In case you are wondering, it's a hell lot.

On the side note, also finished yet another class

I suggest renaming "normal" into (...) "fister"
I cannot see any way this could go wrong!

Looks cool, good luck!

Some are simply too hard and require the players to read a 200 page manual before being able to understand the mechanics due to my effort of translating tabletop rules into video game.

I'm sort of curious to check out that game.  I kinda thrive on Complexity, provided I'm drawn into the game.

That was my previous game project called Rivya Rebellion, which I attempted to convert 4th Edition of Dungeon and Dragons ruleset with some extra homebrew rules into a video game format. There is a demo, but it is a bit buggy (if the fighter interrupt kill someone on their own turn due to AoO, the game hang (Bad coding)).

I got quite a lot of complaints from it.
But it is pretty good learning experience on what people expect when playing a video game is quite different from when screwing around with friends on a tabletop campaign.

Seems pretty damn cool. I've been looking for something to fill the tactics ogre shaped hole in my heart, and only found voidspire tactics and this so far. I'll keep watch on this. Good luck with development!

Thanks! Will do.

This may sound like a broken record, but I seriously hope you enjoy the demo.

I have to admit I had to look up what a Fullback was. I was about to make a big post about how you should change it to Linebacker (whch I have heard before), but then I looked it up and was like "Well I am an idiot"

I was trying to think of classes and I was like "Ok, so this game has a very urban/suburban feel... so it would probably need to be something you see everyday"

And unfortunately I couldn't think of anything neat other then "Mascot" which is just a guy in an animal costume... who would be more of a secret class. Then I was like "Well what about a chef or something?" and I was like "But doctor is probably in". Then again I guess a Fastfood worker would just spread poison xD

Sorry I am absolutely sleepy, I'll shut up now.

I'll try the demo later.

You should name Normals "Squares"  ;D

The forced series of battles is a good idea. The Tactics Ogre games often ignored this potential mode of gameplay in exchange for making their games approachable to weaker players.

So the final game will have no random battles?

This is a great game, I could see this going far. Loved the demo!

I second this.

I second this.

Normal attacks aren't done exclusively by normal units. A Chemists punch is likely normal.

As well anyone who is just a flat out brute would also do normal. A Biker's baseball bat attack is normal.

No. For tactics turn-based games, I believe handcrafted encounters are the key for a fun experience.
That and a lot of player options.
Besides, there is a combat difficulty option in the settings so players can adjust it to their taste.

Great :D

Lol, maybe. I will consider it.

Due to feedback, I adjusted the beginning of the demo to include several options to allow the player to skip the character creation if they wish to.

Might be going a bit heavy handed with the humor there.

Nah, I think its completely fine. I treat it like a kid's version of Liberal Crime Squad. Plus, if you've ever been to a highschool in a shitty district, you'd know its actualy pretty accurate.
