What are your current personal goals you try to achieve within DF?

for me, it is the following:

- start wars.
- win wars.
- try to find ways to enslave/absorb other civs.
- kill a god. for now, closest I think I can currently get is kill all their followers.
- take over the world.

I haven't completed any of these, and I am not sure what the effects of doing any of these would even be.

Starting wars is tricky. Winning wars is just outlasting the enemy's ability to siege you. Enslavement doesn't happen, nor does absorption. It can happen for other parts of your civ, but not by your hand. Can't interact with gods on any meaningful level yet, and no way to take over the world short of claiming sites in the name of your group and running everywhere.

Not worth doing YET but Toady is working on it.

My personal goals are to keep interest, learn as much as I can across different embarks, and do Science for myself and others. My dream won't be realized until Toady implements ways to export people to other sites, attack them, and loot them.

I like to make my Fort/s a part of the current history , next time I will start playing DF again I will probably make an interracial fort that spawns legends for generations to come.

Might have to plan this with throwing inn the new cool things like Inn , Library and a handfull of scholars (Wise Dorfs).

To be honest I have no real planning on a cool structure for the "fort" might have to think of something cool.

My current goal is to have no imported wealth, as far as possible. I have emeralds stockpiled and a bunch of venom waiting for my Dyer to become Legendary (DFHack mod, ammo + tallow + venom = envenomed bolts. Higher skill means more coverage). Those add up to a shade under 20,000 db so far, but I have imported wealth of 56,000 db due to importing expensive stuff waiting for melting or forging.

My other current goal is to start an adventurer off at my fortress, return with a bunch of divine arms and armour, and unretire the fortress to melt those suckers down and reforge them.

• Have a long list of animals on my training screen.
• Have a lot of "expert" entries on my training screen.
• Create a superior breed of War Jabberers via eugenics.
• After setting up the first all-stone layer as temporary housing, channel out every layer below it until I hit the first cavern.
• Build a floor out of rock blocks right above the first cavern.
• Using the surface river and a huge magma pump stack, cast a great obsidian block in the pit above  the first cavern.
• Mine out the stairs within the obsidian necessary for future endeavors, leaving a solid wall around them.
• Channel out all the rest of the great obsidian block.
• Collect all mined out obsidian.
• Cast the great obsidian block again, this time leaving a few selected layers full of magma.
• Carve out the space for all the storage, workshops, farms, living quarters, pastures, incubators, dining rooms, offices, barracks, traps and defenses I'll ever need from the great obsidian block, including a great palace in which most of the nobles live.
• Clear out all the mined obsidian.
• Smooth and engrave every last obsidian floor and wall.
• Build all the workshops out of gold, placing magma forges, kilns and glass furnaces over magma layers.
• Lay down all the stockpiles.
• Create enough masterwork beds from subterrainian wood for everyone to have one.
• Create enough masterwork golden cabinets, coffers and doors for everyone to have one of each (except for certain nobles, who will have more than one of each).
• Create enough masterwork golden weapon racks and armor stands to satisfy the nobility, including the future king, plus some for the soldiers.
• Create masterwork obsidian coffins for everyone, except the tomb-requiring nobility, who get gold ones.
• Create as many platinum statues as possible.
• Create 60 masterwork golden tables and 60 masterwork golden chairs for the communal dining hall, plus however many the nobles need.
• Encrust all the furniture in the above 6 steps with gems.
• Place the furniture in the appropriate rooms and move everyone in.
• Invite the King.
• Build extensive defenses.
• Turn on invaders.
• ?

Compared to pretty much everything seen so far in here and in other threads, my goals are are almost embarrassingly simple:

- Become a mountainhome and get royalty to live there
- Dig deep and find a way do something useful with magma
- Dig deeper and mine candy
- Get farms, clothing industry and other more complicated industries really running
- Get more complex schedules for military work
- Do something useful with animals
- Design, build and test a Skrillex Storm machine

I've dabbled with most of these but not really managed to make them work that well, and I don't have enough time in my hands to actually play the game as much as I want.

In actuality, though I love Ghormenghast, I'm not doing a Ghormenghast themed fort, it was just an adjective. But someone totally should.

*cough* *Gormenghast*. A sprawling, organically built fortress like that would look great in a visualiser, but to get the 'pixel size' down small enough you'd need a really, really big site.

Maybe I should go reread Battlefailed and FailCannon.

I don't get much playtime, and fps has gotten *really* low.

Personal goal? 1000 adult dwarves. Paving the 6*6 forested embark.
 I'm just over halfway on both.
