Videogame Music V3
« on: October 05, 2015, 11:57:06 pm »

2010 had its thread that shared the sound
2012 had its thread that kept the sound coming

And then the music went silent, so it is time for a 2015 thread and bring back the good sound, the good music and the good song that you discovered in new, old videogames, new members and ancient, let's share the new/old stuff from videogames that sounded good to your ears.

To give a start, here are some 6 videogames songs i recently listened to, all of different genre.

Heard in the Burnout racing serie, Animal Alpha - Bundy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKgNMiy2p5Q

Heard in Clockwork Knight (old sega saturn title) , Salsa de Pepperouchau :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjKTsZZXUGI

Heard in Silent Hill, the intro theme (still remember this one so much, ... Lisa, damn)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eds1ivwq1oc

Heard in WWE'14 , Story of the year - Just close your eyes (wrestler Christian entrance theme)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eZQj1zzHOQ

Heard in Civilization 4, Baba Yetu
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCARXtbWEcM

Skyrim, Dragonborn (never played it , but Jeremy Soule work is just so great that i listen to everything he does)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OWdMHIRld8

Let's hear your music !
(and probably see you in Videogame Music V4 in a couple of years :D )

Can give a cheerful heads up that much of Dungeon Fighter Online's music is pretty bloody good. The game is also f2p, and the entire soundtrack is stored as .oggs and easily accessible after you've downloaded the thing :V

There is a series called "You can play it" on Youtube that has some great songs. Here is one I love:

Zelda Theme:

One of my all time favories from Secret of Mana (the Dwarf Villiage song)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pyh-76qdVeU

How about a newer one? Portal theme on Piano. Fun fact, both this (not sure if it is this exact version) and Baba Yetu played at my wedding:

The last video game soundtrack that really impressed me was Risk of Rain

Novus Aeterno Soundtrack. Main titles theme by Denny Schneidemesser

A good one imo.

Edit: Just remembered the thing from the past called Homeplanet. Die hard space fighter "simulator". Insanely hard and unforgiving game. It had really amazing theme by MoozE

Man, I've got something like 55 hours of video game music (something like 20 hours of that is Castlevania alone.) It's too bad I can't just offload it to this thread. I started collecting it for D&D campaigns and ambiance and eventually just for its own sake.

But to contribute, just about anything from Hotline Miami 2 is gold. This is my favorite track from the game.

And this is my favorite track from the first game.

Stumbled into the Billy Hatcher soundtrack while looking through Knuckles' Choatix music. I thought most songs were pretty good, but I was blown away with this one:
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg - Boss Theme

Quite some time ago, I decided to see a playthrough of Dyna Brothers, some obscure Japanese strategy game for Genesis. At the time, the only thing I knew of it was a particular song frequently used in various Sonic ROM hacks (also listed below). Aside from that one, there was also another song that I found to be especially catchy:
Dyna Brothers - Track 6
Dyna Brothers - Track 7
Dyna Brothers 2 - Get Crazy - More Rave (song used in many other hacks; remix of track 7 from the first game)

Obscure Castlevania clone Rusty has a fantastic soundtrack.

Then there's the soundtrack to Malice for Quake

I'll probably post some more good ones in the future, but for now here's a ridiculous one that sounds like a dial-up modem on LSD.

Some nice VG music/song of old :

From Gran Turismo 1 , Garbage - As Heaven is wide
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGTvPqHxYEM
Can't believe it's been already 17 years that i first played Gran Turismo.

From its sequel, Gran Turismo 2 , The Cardigan - My favourite game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e701QHyCr0o

And the most iconic music (to me i mean) of that old Street Fighter 2 game, only reason i ever purchased a Snes in its time. Guile's theme

Skate or Die 2 theme

But on a more serious note, anything from Journey to Silius.
