To start you off, your first world crisis will be oil. This will definitely be the first problem you notice heading into office, as without oil, people cant work and pay taxes, you cant use most of your military, to begin.
Crisis #1: Oil ShortageDjibouti is the largest seller of oil in the world, until it dried up. They have enough on reserve to last themselves 3 cycles, if they stop selling it.Auraya's oil is still flowing, but not at a rate to supply all nations. They do not have much on reserve either. They have a contract with Tropico, that they must sell lowest to them, half or less than any other buyer, for the next 5 cycles.Tropico has a large reserve of oil even though they produce none, thanks to the Auraya oil contract.Equestria has a reserve to last only 1 cycle, having been buying only as needed with no contracts.Advisors:
There are several areas you can pay to be studied. A study may fail to find something there, and a repeat study may find what a previous one missed. You can pay for multiple studies, even within the same area; the cost scales up as better techniques and more experts are needed.
- Within your nation
- Gjasoth Sea
- Majestic Ocean
- Northern Ocean*
- Southern Ocean**
Cost: to purchase a new survey, immediately pay $10 plus $10 times the number of surveys started by your nation this cycle.
Go green! There have been many advances in alternatives to oil. You can pressure your economy to produce more of these alternatives to lower your oil requirement amount. And pay for propoganda to support it. Caution, beware of those invested in keeping things the way they are, pushing back!
If the supplier wont meet you at reasonable terms, will you do what is necessary for your nation to prevent economic collapse? You do not need to prevent the original owner from getting what they need to. Perhaps just the threat of force will be enough at the bargaining table.
These are side challenges for the glory of your nation.
*A team that keeps their own nation's oil demands satisfied for 3 cycles straight, may name this ocean.
*A team that discovers oil at sea, may name this ocean.
**A team that has the highest oil extraction rate after 2 cycles, may name this ocean.
**A team that discovers oil in their nation, may name this ocean.

Corporate Deal Offers
I will share some valuable survey information if your neighboring nation does not meet it's oil needs for 3 cycles in a row. This is a private offer(PM host to accept). First person to accept gets it, but will remain unknown to other players and their partner. If I believe you have revealed this agreement to your neighbor or they have found out, or if you wish to end this contract, you must give us oil shipments equal to 5 times your nation's oil demand before the end of the game, or you lose the game.
One of your advisors has written up a corperate contract that your nation's industry must abide if you sign it. In 5 cycles, either or both your oil demand will begin to decrease or industry will begin paying higher fees and boosting your income. They won't all be happy about this.
If you perform a military action, such as capturing a resource to create a distraction, a fleet of pirates will make sure a few shipments going to the nation of you choice... simply don't make it.
Military Operations:
Auraya has 1 platoon defending its' oil resource. All other nation's troops are at home and on standby.
Declare an action in the thread, such as an offer or accepting one. You can only cancel an unaccepted offer, quote an offer you accept. Military actions can be sent via PM to the host, though if made publicly, will resolve first.
Possessions can pass multiple hands within the same cycle.
