Heeey, library's wi-fi is finally working. For now. Only an hourish to use it because lunch break but sweet fucking hell I haven't had internet in over a goddamn month so I'll take this hour.
Update things! Still alive. Got power back to the house... not last wednesday but wednesday before? Something like that. Took longer than it probably should have and may be a fire/electricution risk because octogenarians shouldn't be in the middle of a disaster area but... whatever. At least it means no more generators running, ruddy noise boxes.
No phone, no internet, though. Getting to the point the other house people are considering satellite, mostly cause we can't seem to get a straight answer from the phone company over what's going on so far as repair and recovery goes.
Area's more functional and mostly operational so far as day to day goes but it's still pretty fucked. Something like half or more the trees in this county either got snapped in half or uprooted and knocked over (and it's fairly heavily wooded around here) so yeah. It's been a month-ish of clean-up and it'll be several more just to get shit off the sides of the roads, never mind everything else. Extra fun is I've heard news/gossip vine stuff about people trying to play the area off as not that badly hit due to some bureaucracy stuff (not enough people asking for assistance or something), which is a hell of a thing. We're maybe like a notch down in terms of fucked from Jackson county... but it's a small notch if we are.
Any case, thank fornication I had a small library on this tablet and could finagle means to keep it charged. Would have went out of my gourd entirely without it. Reeeeaaaaalllly want internet back. That whole bullshit about living without it being freeing or whatever the hell is pretty reliant on having the physical condition to do other shit, and I mostly don't. So it's pretty unpleasant.
