Kobold miner in my lifestock
« on: September 26, 2015, 06:54:03 am »

Hey guys,
I just found a kobold miner in my lifestock. He is considered an animal and can't work, but can be slaughtered. I don't know how he appeared here, maybe he came with a migrant wave. Anybody knows, is it a bug or a feature?

Sounds very much like a bug. Kobolds are sapient, and thus should not be butcherable. Also, dorfs do not accept [open] slavery, so the only sapient "animal" that can be kept are Gremlins.
As far as I know Kobolds are always hostile (as are Goblins). Things will change in partially unknown way in the next release, but I assume you're not an alpha tester...

All of the above goes out the window if you're using mods affecting it, of course.

We're all alpha testers...

But yeah, sounds like a bug. Although he could be the King. Aren't non-Dwarf nobles treated as pets in the current version?

I'm not sure a kobold could become a dwarven king in vanilla. Is he listed under pets/livestock or under citizens?

It's a feature. Will he mine if you designate something?

How is the feature supposed to work? I'm curious.

If he doesn't do anything and just waste space, butcher him and turn him into stuff. Kobold meat cookies and kobold leather thongs for everyone!

There's only one.

But if it's female, you should definitely keep it and eat delicious kobold eggs.

Are you using a mod, or otherwise changed any raws?

Also, I recommend eggs.
