You know what Adventure Mode needs?
« on: September 20, 2015, 07:44:46 pm »

A notebook, which would go together with the quest log. In the notebook, it would act just like a text editor, so you can write down what it is you're doing, etc.

Just use a text editor? It'd be cool though.

Gets annoying when you have DF fullscreen though, and it takes a few moments to "change resolutions" (from 1366x768 to 1366x768...I don't know why). Also breaks immersion.

In fact...maybe the amount of space for writing can be related to the Memory attribute?

it would be neat if the player and other adventurers carried notebooks if they can read or write. Better tie in to learn history of the world, can find out about ancient ruins and artifacts from times long lost. Mostly I'd like it to be able to have an in game way to of remembering just what the hell I intend to do, what cities are friendly to me, list goes on.

I can't fullscreen df without it breaking because my left monitor is rotated, so I just have it windowed at 1920x1080 and turn off the window borders, can that not be done on windows or whatnot?

Being able to add notes and stuff to your quest log and better search options would be nice.

Being able to sort it and specify which things you ask about/talk about first would be even better though.

How is the quest log itself broken?
I can navigate it fine. (remember the (f)ilter text key is your friend.

You could also go old school and write names down in a notebook.

sorting is already in .. use the 'f' key.
It works in most all of the new menus.. did you seriously not know this? or do you think it isnt sufficient?

I mean that it can't be sorted by types (beast/bandits/groups/abductions) or names or most recently mentioned or most recently killed or killed by you and such.

Books that can be written in Fort Mode are planned, so it may be possible for Toady to apply that to Adv. Mode, too.  Being able to find a journal on the corpse of your last adventurer would be cool, and if you grew to fame and died on a battlefield, grieving followers may retrieve your stuff, putting the journal on display or under lock and key.
