Look for something more... explosive this time. Very volatile and powerful, if I can get my hands on it without causing too much damage.

((I have no idea where to go from here.))

"I have no idea where to go from here."

Make sure nobody's dead. Regroup and assess the shuttle's damage. Condense our supplies into one storage area on G2. Busywork and organization, I guess.

((Could we get a supply list somewhere? Maybe in the OP, if it wouldn't be too much trouble.))

I'll keep it in the posts from now on.

What Ciri found:
1x thermal lance (use for cutting through metal and drilling holes)
1x genetic sampler (use on wildlife to sequence their genes and compare them)
1x broken handheld microscope (casing is cracked, lenses are fine)
3x climbing gear (contains rapelling kit and insertable spikes)
1x handheld power saw (battery-powered cutting tool)
1x double battery charger
2x all purpose spade

What was taken from the Assault Gun:
>about thirty sandwiches
>6x binoculars
>6x knives
>soap
>water/drinks
>umbrellas
>wood planks
>lighters
>oil lamp
>adult magazines
>6x Revolvers

What was stockpiled beforehand:
>A fire extinguisher still inside its glass box, with a small window hammer buried in the sand nearby
>An advanced atmospheric analyzer capable of testing for particulates and biochemicals as well as gaseous composition
>A micro chainsaw meant for cutting fibers and soft materials like wood, bone, and cloth
>Three small spades with extensible handles, labelled 00, 01, and 07 respectively
>A metal detector with an extensible handle

>Parts from a Magnus hazardsuit dissected for parts (minus breathing kit, held by S.D.)

((I blame holidays, also I like making bigger posts, so I find it a pain to post.  I'm weird.  Love the game.  Hate to post >.<))

Nole was taken aback at Nyar's idiotic? actions.  He was halfway between being frozen in shock, and going to tackle the guy.  The only reason he didn't was Nyar holding all the guns.  All he could do was shake his head and try to pretend he had sane friends.

Quote from: To Nighthawk
"Yea, yea, sure.  These aren't NPC's you can just kill for loot.  These are other people, with families, friends, homes.  Fine, if this is like a game to you, just think of it like a Karma system.  You will be rewarded for good behavior, but bad behavior will get you killed.  And I don't want to see anyone get hurt.  As for busywork, uhh... let's... ah!  This is your first quest here!  Given by me!  It's an escort mission.  I would go alone, but it's dangerous to go anywhere here alone.  I want to see if we can find that other guy from our ship who's gone missing it seems, uhh, Mark, I think it was.  He was wearing a suit, so we might be able to track him.  Meet up with me and we can go from there.  Your reward will be, uhh... Healing gel and 100 XP."

Thinking to himself, 'And it's a chance to talk to her more in private.  I'm not sure I want to bring her up yet to Graves.  I don't really know what to think about this whole thing.  Is she the real NightHawkAssassin?  Or is she delusional?  Scratch that.  Is she MORE delusional?'

"Hey Cueball.  I'm going to head out to look for Mark.  He's been gone a long time.  There's a few things that we need that I can think of.  Salvage everything from G19 we can.  Get everything we can onto our vehicles.  Getting out of here, maybe to the Franks.  And finding that other shuttle!  They're still on the radio line in G19!  Well, one guy is.  But we have to help him out, as well as recovering the shuttle itself!  I tried locating them, but the signal was messed up.  Try using G2 to get a better signal, or whatever, you figure it out!  I promised him help, and I'll be damned if he doesn't get it!"

Meet up with NightHawk, lock onto Mark's signal, and track him down.  Make sure to inform Graves/Cueball what direction we will be heading in before we leave, in case of getting lost/out of radio contact.

((I need to remember that crate of loot Pencil_Art found back on October 14, 2015, right before he left.  There was lots of good stuff there. D:  And the bandages/gel/suit that he had!))

1900 GREENHEART TIME, MAY 21st, 301 P.L
ERROR: FAILED TO CONNECT TO INTERNET TIME SERVER.

Arthur Staunch (Megggas):

((No action for a ehile now))

Weather: Cloudy (No bonuses or penalties to stealth)

Spoiler: Status,Traits,Invntory (click to show/hide)

Ciri (Twinwolf):

You find Graves standing on the edge of the camp with a look of utter disbelief in his face, watching as one survivor named 'Nyar' walks off into the distance toward some round, football-shaped object several hundred meters away.

He brushes away the drone.
"Ugh, there's a bit too much going on right now. I think I need to stand back for a moment..."
When you show him the camera logs via your two-way visor, however,
"CRIKEY NUTCRACKERS! This planet's inhabited!" He takes out a shard of Magnus suit helmet--connected to his backpack via a set of alligator clips to provide power--and looks at the footage you send to him wirelessly.
"...or was. That building looks rather... ancient. Doesn't look like it's in use, anyway. I think we should send a team to investigate."

He starts leaving to tell the others.

Base Status

Cargo Sled: Requires about 4 units of metal plating.
Jail: Requires some kind of lock, and 1 unit of metal plating per side.
Upgrade a Vehicle: You can give +1 armor on one side of either vehicle by replacing a Metal Plating from the vehicle with a Hull Plating from the destroyed shuttle.

The shuttle can be salvaged for: 4 Hull Plating from the cockpit, 10 Hull Plating from the body
The Armored car can be salvaged for: 6 Metal Plating
The Assault Gun can be salvaged for: 8 Metal Plating

The Thermal Lance can be used to cut metal plating and hull plating
You find one welding kit in the Assault Gun

You have 6 Hull Plating

Nole (Slayer1557):

((Hehe, I understand completely. I've been slacking off a lot myself.))

Ah...
*short pause*
...so don't hurt the other party. Got it. I'm so sorry... it's just really hard to adjust to all this. I didn't really grow up in the real world I guess...

You don't need to pretend though, he he. 100 XP...

She meets up with you a fair distance from the base, in the northern direction which you believe Mark headed.

He handed out the bandages, taking more for himself of course.

Mark's footprints are no longer visible, thanks to the rain. Also, you take note of the fact that while Arthur is still visible on your display, Mark seems to have disappeared. You wonder if this is due to weather or more sinister reasons. But if his suit is still working, it should be able to connect if you get within a certain distance, hopefully.

When you talk to Graves, he sends you some videos that Ciri made using a remote-controlled drone. It shows a rather frightening landscape of ridges and arches above the clouds, along with what seems to be a huge derelict tower with some sort of beacon at the top. The drone appears to suffer from some wind turbulence near the tower and turns back about then.
"Interesting, huh? It seems we aren't alone after all. The 'locals' couldn't have built it quickly, at least. Someone had to be here for a long time."

You have 10 red fish, 1 cooked
You have 6 green fish, 0.8 cooked
You have .9 cooked sand slug

Cueball (Paphi):

The medical gel really doesn't seem to be acting... properly, and he wakes up screaming as his wound bleeds into the pod gel. Either the medical gel or the oxygel seems to sting--a lot.

Bernard consults you.
"Are you truly sure this technological marvel of yours is able to save the poor recruit? I for one thought him a martyr, but you really seem convinced that the situation is tractable..."

Spoiler: Stockpile (click to show/hide)

Renouille A41 Cruise Gun
Current Armor: +2
Current weapon: Turretless 76mm G3 Weapon (Accuracy: 4far/3mid/1close)
Ammunition:
10x High Explosive (Power: 3) (Can hit multiple infantry)
22x High Velocity (Power: 4)

Nyar Donovon (WunderKatze):

Investigate object.

You investigate the object. From a distance.

[4] It bobs around, and seems to take notice of you. It starts hovering closer. Now that it's closer, you investigate it again.

[5] You hear a voice that seems rather loud. Nobody back at the camp seems to hear it or move out to investigate. It sounds like a human voice, speaking calmly in several different languages, including English. The football-orb is revealed to be more of a disk with tapered edges and a pair of rings attached to the outside which can move independently of the disk. It shines a bright light in your direction, although it seems to be a laser; the light does not illuminate the ground below you.
"Biosigns unmeasurable due to obstruction, but the appearance correlation factor is lower than the significance value... please identify."

Armored Car
Current Armor: +2
Current weapon: 60mm Mark III Gun (Accuracy: 4close/3mid/2far)

4x High Explosive (Power: 3) (Can hit multiple infantry)
6x High Velocity (Power: 4)
2x HEAT (Power: 5)

S. D. "Smooth" McGroove (SaberToothTiger):

Look for something more... explosive this time. Very volatile and powerful, if I can get my hands on it without causing too much damage.

You manage to find something barely sticking up out of the ground. It seems big and heavy, though, so you need to borrow one of the shovels lying around the base to dig it out.

[5 -> new miniquest] It's a micro nuclear reactor. The reaction is long gone, but there does seem to be live fuel inside... the control terminal is cracked.

((By 'micro' I mean that it is small enough to fit in a plane or a truck. It weighs several tonnes and cannot be moved by hand))

Sure it might be fun to blow it all up, but then again we do need the power...
But the fun is all there up for grabs.
Look for a way to dislodge the reactor. Said way can include cooperation.

Sequence Cristophe's genome, then try and reprogram the pod, punching in the relevant data. Swap and charge batteries as necessary. Regrow or -attach the limb if possible. Enlist Cabinboy's AI if absolutely needed.

Hm...

"I... have an idea. Tell him to bear the pain as best as he can."

Sequence Cristophe's genome, then try and reprogram the pod, punching in the relevant data. Swap and charge batteries as necessary. Regrow or -attach the limb if possible. Enlist Cabinboy's AI if absolutely needed.

Cabinboy begins acting very strange as soon as you tell him to help you with the process.
"This unit has now entered transient mode. All memories are now read-only and consciousness is disabled. For more information, contact the local Overseer.

Warning: Tampering with Cryonix Stasis Pods is forbidden outside of emergency circumstances. This unit has determined that the current situation is an emergency.
...Please continue."

[6] A genetic sample is easy enough to acquire, although the Frenchmen seem appalled that you would take a needle to his blood at a time like this.
"I won't say anything.. although I do hope that my trust in your skills is not misplaced..."

Cabinboy extends a standard USB7 port from his arm and gathers the data from the sequencer after it operates. After some time (and losing about 20% of the sequencer's battery), the sequence is uploaded to the pod computer.
"The requested task requires a ghost with a computational power of at least 300 VIQ, which is not present on this unit."
[4] "...Overriding security protocol..."
"...Beginning biodata stream decode..."
"...Error! Stream decode failed!"

Graves takes note of what you are doing.
"Looks like the nanites in his body aren't responding. Usually that happens because the power supply runs out... are these men starving?"

"They could be starving... They could just be too different. Cabinboy could just be too dumb, no offense. The shipbrain, what's that rated at? Even if it's too dumb, they could probably sync... do something...

Frenchman, John? No, Bernard, these sandwiches are all you've had to eat?"

Prioritize the nanites: Stabilize, induce coma, then regenerate or repair the arm. Disregard chronic illness in favor of trauma - no curing rotgut before this guy can hold a rifle again.

Keep toying with the pod - surely Cueball can remember something useful.

"Starving! What an insult! Our men dine lavishly every night in the barracks! Then again... I do suppose we haven't been at the barracks for, erm, a month now... Still, our rations are top quality!"

"The shipbrain,"
"Right! It's rated at about 350, and it's actually more intelligent than a cabinboy even though it's more reserved. It'll do. Give me a hand..."

With the frank and all, you drag the pod onboard G2 to connect it to the shipbrain. You pass by crates of stuff--liquor, canned food, some sandwiches, a cellular phone on a folding table, and a bag of potatoes.

Potatoes... those were the crops of choice in that one ancient classic about a man trapped on an alien world with nothing but his wits and some abandoned equipment. It was penned in a rather archaic form of English, but you remember that the alien soil couldn't grow anything without nutrients. You forgot what he ended up using as fertilizer.

...Beginning biodata stream decode...
...Warning, biodata corrupt...
...Resending signal...
...Warning, biodata corrupt...

...x27 more messages...

"Blast! It's definitely something to do with the nanites. Neither of our brains could do it. That means the fault... is in him."
Christophe, having lost consciousness, lies still in the pod. The oxygel combined with the bandages has soaked up enough of the blood to stop the bleeding. This is probably the ideal time for stitches, but the medical gel was supposed to be the tool for these sorts of situations and so you don't have any string prepared.
Judging by the appearance of the wound, the medigel isn't doing anything at all.

Pod knowledge: [2] - nothing useful in this situation.
You know that the pod boasts limited regenerative capacity. You don't know its secrets of operation, though, or why a ghost is needed to decode the biodata. Perhaps it's due to the sheer overload of information that the nanites in the bloodstream send, but you were told that the pod computer handles everything normally.

It's possible the shipbrain and cabinboy misinterpreted your request and are trying to perform some special procedure with the pod that you don't know of.

"I guess a full regeneration is too much for the thing. At least he's alive. I wonder..."

Get a diagnostic of the errors, then one of Cristophe. Cueball then sequences his own genome, and compares it to Cristophe's. Are there any particular chunks that stand out that could interfere with the standard program?
