The Portugese man-o-war's strength lies in the fact that its tentacles hurt like a motherfucker and could incapacitate some animal larger than a human.

Obviously we need to strengthen the tentacles.

Swim around a bit. Get a feel for my new body.

Spoiler: Desmond (click to show/hide)
You pulsate the bell your brain is encased in, swooshing around. Whee!

Thanks to the surgeons, you can kind of sense nearby water movements, and move your tentacles about a bit. You can also deflate the air-filled sac where your head would be momentarily, in order to dive and sink or move fast in any direction, a bit like blowing bubbles to propel yourself.

"What's that? A mechsuit? Yes, that does seem fair, though I think we need to spice up the jellyfish a bit as well in that case, this isn't a sushi bar, after all..."

The host signals to some lackeys in purple livery. A gold sarcoughagus plated in chrome and banded with tiny red LEDs is wheeled in, and the host lifts the lid carefully, revealing eight differently coloured syringes, each around three inches wide, ten long.

"This ought to do the trick: a few "stimulants", one might say, designed to make the Desmondfish a bit more effective. Each of these has up to three doses in it, and we'll be putting 4 loads in, 2 sets of two. Should alter it, in some way, make it somewhat more dangerous, shake things up a little. So which two formulas shall we give him first? Double, or even triple, doses allowed, but you only have 4 to spend, you know...

The syringes are numbered one to eight. Two doses in this round, two after that.

Oh, and the brainless human body has a computer shoved into the head, a suspisciously console-ish controller is handed to the host shortly after. A mechsuit is then put on, metal armour and limbs encasing the body, but leaving parts of each limb and the head and torso exposed. The figure's height is increased by around three feet, and the mechsuit has no obvious weapons, except for extreme cybernetic strength.

Well, it only hates Linux for now. If we could condition it to hate computer viruses, than hooray! Free, brutal virus protection! Unless you have Linux!

Triple three, triple seven.  Single doses are barely going to have any effect, guys!
You only have 4 doses, overall, not 4 syringes.

Five and Six
+1
+1

Upon the addition of 5, the tentacles thicken and lengthen, by around twenty feet.

When 6 is added, tiny monofilament fibers, like incredibly fine whips, begin to emerge from among the tentacles. With some effort, Desmond can jerk them around.

Cool.  I think we should see how he does with these improvements before we inject him with anything else.

6 and 2. He needs better fibre control.

Actually, this makes sense.  +1.

6 and 2. He needs better fibre control.
Actually, this makes sense.  +1.
With a second dose of 6, the monofilament fibres extend and widen, now swirling precisely and regularly, long razor sharp, flexible and slightly serrated strands.

When 2 is added, thin, multi-jointed metal spikes around ten feet long extend from the bell containing Desmond's brain. He is able to manipulate the joints of these, albeit slowly and awkwardly.

"Well, that's enough faffing about! Maybe we'll let you try the rest later, when we eliminate our lowest-scoring contestant, but for now, it's Desmond vs Mechsuited Audience! It's up to you now, folks!"

The mechsuited human, controlled by the Host, is dropped into the ten feet of water. Desmond, his tentacles draggin along the bottom, is to the North of it. The tub is huge and circular, but rather cramped for the two gigantic adversaries.

Actions? You're controlling the man in the mechsuit, audience.
