Homework, waiting on Blitz (my fault as I had a delay in getting some information to him), this thread being difficult to find in the list of unread replies, and me joining a D&D session run by a friend are delaying the game start.  Got a quite large amount of plot written out though.

No.  Yugioh has wound up being subjected to some measure of power creep in even cards outside of the extra deck.  One from that era, even without the XYZ, would have quite a bit more power over the rest of the decks.

yes, but their only structure deck comes with an XYZ monster
because Konami has this thing where they resurrect old archetypes with cards that are actually competitive in todays meta

What about Advent of the Legendary Monarch? Doesn't have any Xyzzy's, tuners or synchros but I want to make sure.

Ah, that explains it.  Not going with Rise of the Dragon lords or Dragon's Roar?  You mentioned possibly wanting both of those earlier.

May want to check for Pendulum monsters.  If it doesn't, it should be good.

Oh, hey, the full Monarch deck was actually revealed? Sweet.

For reference, though, that is a modern deck. I don't know how competitive it is, but the Vassals and the Netherworld/Heaven cards, as well as the spell support, are modern and released to try to make it competitive with Xyz, but it's a deck themed around Tribute Summons instead of the Extra Deck. If you're worried about power creep, you might have issues there.

That is true, but his would wind up on the waitlist, as blitz's is the last one that was accepted into the game.

Name: Seamus Scarry
Age: 21
Appearance: Seamus is a fairly tall lad, all things considered, measuring at about 6 feet. He's average as looks go, not too muscular, not too thin... You get the idea. Brown hair and brown eyes complete the look.
Personality: As personality goes, Seamus is, well, a nice guy. He tries to help where he can, be it with advice, physical labour, whatever. If he can try to help, he'll probably do it. At the same time, he's also prone to  cracking crude jokes, whether the situation calls for it or not. At the same time, though, he is a bit of a recluse. Friendly enough, but sometimes he just likes to have some alone time.
Background: Seamus is... A bit of an odd lad, since nobody seems to know much of anything about him, as far as past goes. What is known is that, 4-5 years ago, he joined a certain gang, one which mostly made it's money from extortion and protection rackets. His reasons are just as unknown to most people, but most assume it was because that gang in particular explored the most. And they'd be right. He needed to charge those pendant batteries up somehow, after all, and that was simply the easiest way to do it. He wasn't particularly fond of his fellow gang members, though, even after all these years, so when Elena's sister was captured, he left with her to rescue said sister. After all, she was one of the few people he could call a friend.
