Biology is disgusting.  This genocide thing sounds promising.

Short, medium, and long answer is basically "Suddenly, funding: funding everywhere."
If the hypothetical population of Mars were vastly, noticeably more intelligent than humanity, chances are they would have found better ways to solve problems than by blowing up the other person.
I will argue that this point is wrong from its very base principles: You are *assuming* that aliens will be nice based on *inferior* human conceptions of niceness, and its role in society. But remember: they are literally our superiors. If they were smarter then us to the extent that they think fundamentally smarter things then we do, then assuming their behavior based on our literally inferior ideas and conceptions is the sheerest folly. In fact, I can be even bolder and say that assuming they behave in any specific way, whatsoever, is simply, well, absurd.

Biology is disgusting.  This genocide thing sounds promising.

Xenocide is usually the appropriate terminology in this case, yes.

I suggest that the reverse makes the same error:

If there was life on mars more intelligent than us we would already be dead.

That's also making assumptions based on human conceptions.

Of course, coming to conclusions free of human conceptions...while being human, might be difficult.

What if we just find some deranged person utterly detached from the human condition and ask them what they would do to human civilization if the were an alien civilization?

Leave us alone.
Take genetic samples, data trawling via our internet, wait until Bush is no longer president, wait until Putin stops cloning himself and puts a shirt on, when Netanyahu stops raping the middle east, the end of apartheid, after WW3 then after then have an anti-gravity lunch (space chips floating around 'n' shit)
We are a warlike race.
Have you ever just wanted to seriously fucking crush somebody after they did something mundane?
Stomping on the puddled blood and gleefuly dance while drinking a spinal fluid and absinthe cocktail?
Making choux pastry and filling an eclair with rendered fat?
Stringing your bows with intestine and tendons?
Painting the severed fingers nails with little faces and preform a scene for scene replica of scent of a woman? Im a grey ghost too.

Yeah, obviously you don't stick your arm down an anthill, in much the same way the aliens wouldn't come and challenge each human to single combat armed with only sticks.

But that doesn't mean that a smart person couldn't deal with ants nest easily with a bit of thought, presumably much like more advanced aliens could deal with us if they chose to.

Anyone who's tried to clear out a Japanese Knotweed infestation will tell you that eradicating lesser lifeforms isn't as easy as you'd think.
