This is kind of a niche need, but there have been a couple of succession worlds like The Museum where players have built forts and had other players' adventurers visit them. It would be useful to have some function in adventurer mode, dwarf mode or both to permit a player to engrave a floor, wall or slab with a custom note that can be read by later visitors.

This is pretty nifty. Enables better RP/narrative.

I know Toady has talked a lot about wanting to add in a greater ability to control just what exactly your engravers and various crafters produce. I could see engraving custom messages as a part of that eventual goal.
