It's not really as good as what I'd usually do, mostly since I couldn't add any shading due to the fact that he's made out of pure darkness now.

Darkness and shadows can be shaded around the edges, especially when there are multiple light sources. You can also fray the edges a bit to make the darkness seem more fluid, making it look like an actual substance.

I'd imagine him covered in flames at many different places and generally menacing with glowing red eyes, at least that's how I'd draw him. If I have it wrong be sure to tell me so I don't make the mistake in the drawing.
