Wait, if only 1 or two  of the insects survive aproach and shoot the laser pistol at them, these things look like they will provide much biomass for our motherplant.

Turn 22

You get into a position where you can watch the fight. Bulb and the other plantminkin follow your lead and hide behind trees. It would seem team pink has the upper hand.

Team green isn't out of the fight yet and manages to do some damage to team pink's wings.

Team pink wins regardless however. Once their opponents are dead it looks like they are trying to either eat or drag their vanquished foes.

Practise the noble art of the scavenger, and attack them while now that they're weakened and loot all the bodies

I think we should keep one of the corpses and see if it's edible. Ration bars only last so long.

I agree with this. First we need to kill them though. I support using our pistol in this.

Do the three of us even have the capability to carry all four corpses back within the time constraints of our air supply?
If a quick estimate says yes, +1 to sneak attacking the bugs with our laser pistol (preferably from a closer range?).
We should definately butcher one before feeding any to Mother, so we can remove any useful parts (the wings maybe, depending on what they're made of?)

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.

Turn 23

You open fire on the creatures with your laser pistol. They rush towards you with deadly intent.

You managed to take out the walking crippled creature but it's flying friend it's moving to fast for you to easily hit it.

It closes the gap and lunges but luckily Bulb and the new guy move into the fight. The creature manages to get it's mandibles around Bulb's neck. You shoot it a few times and the new guy hits it with his club until it lets go.

Bulb is unfazed by the events but is obviously injured with plant juices dripping from around his neck. You reload your laser pistol and quickly examine the corpse.

The creature has skin like Bulb or the lightning rhino but the exposed flesh matches that of the crabs more closely. It has 4 small weak legs which seem prehensile despite their lack of digits. It has 2 sets of wings which appear fragile and way to small to lift something of this size. The mandibles aren't razor sharp but with enough force you can see them being able to sever limbs. When you get back to camp you can take a look and see if it is edible.

The creature is very light, probably so those small wings could lift it. You could probably carry one each back to Mother without it slowing you down to much. You could probably grab the wings from the leftover as well. Getting the mandibles off would take some more time.

You can hear buzzing and fighting from the northern clearing now that it is a bit quieter.

You have about 30 minutes to explore after you are done examining the corpse.

Use wings as bandage for plant buddy.
Grab all wings. Take one set of mandibles, for later use in awesome spearcrafting.
Take a corpse back to hive

Judging by the small wings, large body and light weight they probably have pockets of lighter-than-air gas that's allowing them to fly. Could potentially be used as containers if harvested properly.

I say we should just try and rope a body to out backs, carve out what we want from one body, and carry all the parts. Have the other two plantains take two bodies that are intact, and head back. Grabbing anything that looks like vines should help us with that. Otherwise. . . Your plan is sound. . . Minus the part of how wings are supposed to bandage plant guy. Of which I feel you should explain.
