[Agony]

My Legendary Carpenter has just gone into a Berserker rampage and armed only with an Iron Axe and no armor managed to killed my Sheriff (who was wearing Iron and Leather Armor), my Manager, and 9 of his fellow dwarves including a legendary Mason before being overcome by the others. I had a population of 47 (now 36). So besides that this is insanity I have one question. If my manager and sheriff dies will either or both come back in future immigrant waves?

This is DWARF FORTRESS!!! Seriously though, I believe both your nobles will come back in the next wave of immigration. Whether or not that's what you wanted is another thing entirely.

I hope they do. It's not like I wanted my Carpenter to kill 1/4 of my population single handedly    though it was entertaining. He chased down a cat as well and killed it. He also murdered one person while they were sleeping.

In my current fortress I lost my first jeweller and a metal smith because of strange moods affecting them. Luckily only two dwarves were killed, not a quarter of the population!

this reminds me of a game i have played on warcraft's battle.net. Elevator murderer a person is a psycho killer killing everyone with a giant axe while shouting random yells. It was funny especcialy when you watch him kill someone he would repeatedly hit the dead body rapidly with non stop fury even though the body is already in pieces.

Yep they will return eventually.  In the future making sure all your workshops can be sealed off helps with lunatics.

I heard that you can build doors directly in your workshops.

Note to self: have to try that ASAP.

You can't put doors in a workshop's 3x3 box. Personally, my workshops are laid out like this:

X: Wall
.: Hallway
+: Door
W: Workshop
^: Optional cage traps

Wouldn't G make more sense? Since the goblins like to siege a bit more then kobolds. They come with lots of fodder too, well, and machine gunners.      :roll:

My next fortress will have cage traps at all exits from workshops; that way my insane artists can make a zoo instead of mayhem.
