4th to 5th was a big enough jump that absurdly skilled pilots in fourth and refitted third gens could only just keep up with a relatively average pilot in 5th gen, so that kind of implies that they get better, not just flashier.

The wiki I checked seems to indicate that 4th gen was the newest gen, so anything you say about 5th and 6th I'll see as made up.
And there doesn't seem to be any big power jump from late 1st gen and 4th gen, except more weapon options.
It's mostly utility, rather than pure power. Some of the people use 2nd generation IS-es for f***s sake.

So if anything, it's the parts, not the frames, that got the upgrade.
So retrofitting should do the job pretty well.
So I'll stick with the retrofitted 1st gen, and either have it be a good retrofit, or just have it be weaker than everything else.

By the way, should I remove points from the IS? To make it weaker.

For some reason I mis-remembered, I meant the jump from 3rd to 4th. But regardless, the other pilots in 3rd-gen- Rin, Cecilia, Laura- were much more skilled pilots than Houki, but Houki could keep up because of the gap in performance. Charlotte's was heavily modified to the point it practically wasn't a 2nd gen.

Let's just have it be a really good retrofit.

Eh, there's 2 2nd generations. Only one is modified to the point it's no longer considered a 2nd gen.

Actually, don't make it a good retrofit, have my character be completely useless, for the lulz.
Besides, it doesn't have the Fold-Out Armor (no spiky bits for it to come from), making it flat out weaker than the other IS.

Well, that's bound to happen sometime, besides, there's always strategy.
So either she'll die, get the IS replaced, or somehow manage to do something.

Also, they're expensive, like, buying them yourself expensive.

I meant before the first actual, non-competition fight where there is a chance of dying. As for price, from what I could tell nearly all IS' were bought on government money, except possibly Houki's and Charlotte's.

It's also possible that the school could provide one, or a rich friend with connections she makes, but meh. Do what you want. Although if there is going to be a new one later, I'll need to have the stats and equipment for that.

Or they could be slightly less cheap and retrofit a 4th generation instead of a 1st, which with a good pilot could possibly have a chance against a newer one. Part of the retrofit could be making it look less flashy more tanky.
