Sass almost snorted. He thought that was scary? Oh there were stories.

"Well it was being kept in the fridge, and Little Motou had assumed anything in the fridge must be food. Besides, they had cleared out almost everything else to fit a bunch of cultures, so I had nothing else to eat. Hey, some little kids eat ants and stuff, and they have less an excuse then I did!"

"They do? I suppose I should add that to my survival handbooks. Anyway, I used a spoon of course. It was in a petri dish, I just got it all in one spoonful. It was a big spoon, I had to puff out my cheeks to fit it in my mouth. That...was probably a mistake, in retrospect."

"No clue. The only answer I ever got out of them was 'That is classified.'"

Mutou does 'Motou's parent' voice for the "That is classified!" line, deeper then his own.

"As far as I can tell, what they where using to cool them at the lab broke down and they had to take some home to avoid ruining the samples. If left out, the colonies would have kept growing instead of stopping."

Once she'd finished eating, Sassy pulled out her wallet and a small business card (Why the hell did she even have those?) and left enough money for herself and another person togather with the card by her plate before standing up. Then lifted and folded the laptop "Okay, everybody. Thanks for the company. But I've got to go pick up some stuff and check on Cactus. ...And actually do my job. So gotta dash. My number is on the card if something comes up." and then slipped the pad back into her bag and bowed as if she'd just starred in a play before skating out. Entierly ignoring the stares she got from staff for what she was doing to the floors in the process.

Kiyoshi slowly reaches across the table and takes the card.

"That's... strange.  Do you know what it was you ate?"

"Absolutely no clue. But it isn't really that strange, that is just how they answered any question about their work. Have fun at work today? 'That is classified.' Nice weather today, eh? 'That is classified.' Will you be able to make it to the parent-teacher conference next week? 'That is classified.'"

All of the "That is classified"s are, of course, in Motou's parent voice.

"They would answer any other question I had with great enthusiasm, but never about work. If they didn't know, they would look it up. I think they just didn't want to get into the habit of telling me work-stuff to the point they enthusiastically tell me something that was actually classified. They might not have actually done anything classified in the first place, and just thought they might one day. In any case, it isn't like I ate anthrax or tularemia or even just rice blast, I went to the hospital for a day to have my stomach pump and get a check up and was out before I knew it.

Anyway, I am usually better at asking questions then answering them. More comfortable with it, at least. Sooo...Oh look, the waiter is here."
