Wayward Paths - Shadow of Earth
« on: June 24, 2015, 03:27:27 pm »

(OOC Thread: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=150671.0)

In an out-of-the-way corridor off of a noisy plaza, a box that some might say resembles a chromed refrigerator materializes...

"We've landed. You can now un-shut-up. And also approach the windows. And if you want, go outside and take a look around while I get my dimensional bearings. Don't worry, by all indications it's pretty safe out there. Just a moderately sized space station."

Titus walks up to the window and stares out the window and seemed to be in thought before remembering something. "No rush, take your time."

Titus sees a polished metal corridor outside the window, with some kind of spongy grey material on the floor. From the looks of it, probably an artificial hard-foam of some kind, similar to carpet.

Titus raises his right arm and examines various holographic screens hovering slightly over the armor plate. "My solar cells need charging. I'll be right back." He exits the box and looks around for someone to ask for directions.

Koi exits the box and attempts to ping the KX9 Groupmind. Failing that, he attempts to rip a small hole in the fabric of space to the KX9 Rabbithole and ping the Groupmind through that.

Cobb finally exits the shower. He no longer smells like a dumpster, at least.

"Mm," Facechewer starts, looking at the exit. "Just a moderately sized space station, he says. Human-inhabited or no?"

"Probably some around here, here being in the Alpha Centauri sytem. Other than that, it'll be full of all sorts of aliens. They probably won't bat an eye at anything"

Koi exits the box and attempts to ping the KX9 Groupmind. Failing that, he attempts to rip a small hole in the fabric of space to the KX9 Rabbithole and ping the Groupmind through that.
(Crap, forgot to deliver the rant about how multiverse travel works in this)
Koi finds no success in either attempt. Which makes little sense, as this place feels like the kind of fabric of space he's used to poking holes in. However, on exiting the box, he does detect a number of psionic presences approaching.

Titus raises his right arm and examines various holographic screens hovering slightly over the armor plate. "My solar cells need charging. I'll be right back." He exits the box and looks around for someone to ask for directions.
Heading towards the sound of activity, Titus exits the out-of-the-way corridor to find himself in a large plaza, with a large dome-window overhead. There seem to be two suns off in the distance, and the other side of this evidently ring-shaped station in the somewhat closer distance. A voice comes over some kind of PA system: "Earth vessel now approaching docking port 2215..."

A huge starship drifts into view, rather small compared to the station. It does, however, sport a rather eye-catching symbol emblazoned on its side: an enormous swastika.

Koi pokes his head into the box. "Oi. Several psions incoming."

Koi then checks to see if he can make local portals. Like from one nearby point to another.

"Interesting," Mr. Bloodscream says. "Never managed to find any sapient aliens in my day. And we ranged very far indeed. Maybe it was for the best. Any peculiarities in atmosphere on the station? Oxygen levels, specifically, or in additives?"

"If there are any additives, my antitox is disassembling them." Koi checks to see if there are additives.

Having no idea what the symbol meant, Titus quickly goes back to looking for others.

"I wouldn't have told you it was safe if you couldn't breathe it, would I?"

The atmosphere seems to be mostly Nitrogen, with Earth-like concentrations of Oxygen and CO2, and about a quarter as much Methane as oxygen. Such a mixture could probably support several varieties of lifeform, though fires might be a bit harder to put out.

Koi finds he can still make portals locally, opening one as Titus appears back at the opening of the corridor. According to a PA of some sort, it sounds like an Earth ship is inbound. Could be the source of the psions.

"Titus. Incoming psions. Possibly onboard whatever ship that was."

"Pisons? Can you tell how powerful their abilities are?"
