While the soldiers were busy equipping their armor, the army of darkness was making its move toward the bridge leading to my fortress.
They were moving faster than the dwarves expected , this could lead into a disaster , as the dwarven tacticians were counting on the bridge to control the battlefield
The word was then given, ready or not, the defenders were ordered to stop the goblins at the bridge.
The gate was lowered and the dwarven army rushed out
A couple of mounted goblins attacked at the gate, probably forward scouts, but they were dealt with swiftly and learned that legendary warriors aren't to be underestimated
The goblin army suddenly divided in 2 , a fast mounted squad charged through the bridge while the rest of their legion was moving at a slower pace.
A battle happened right in front of the gates
If the dwarves would be held back for too much time, the giant goblin army would then have the time to move through the bridge too, it was going to be dangerous.
Unfortunately for the goblin chargers, legendary and high skilled warriors are simply brillant on the battlefield and wasted the whole enemy squad and their beak dogs before it was too late.
The mighty defenders of Ogredkeskal rushed toward the bridge in time to make their stand and stop the legions of evil that had started to move over the bridge
At that point a bit more than 100 goblins and beak dogs are dead, and one axedwarf of the 3rd squad lost his life in the battle, giant piles of gobs and beak dogs were now heavily rushing into the dwarven shield wall.
The backline trolls were finally joining the melee too .
A legendary spearmaster fell in the defender lines, but the mountain of goblin and beak dog corpses was rising fast.
Was there an end to their numbers ?
The dwarves were still holding with bravery without equals.
It seemed there was and end in view, the battle was still raging but the enemy army had lost more than 200 of their numbers now !
The dwarves at the bridge were not only standing strong, they were actually pushing back the evil legion into the grave.
And then the goblin army finally was breaking down, the remaining trolls joined but it was now too late to stop the dwarves mighty defenders.
While a marksdwarf fell sadly , the day was won, the goblin army was utterly destroyed, 2 mountains of goblin, troll and beak dogs corpses were laying at the bridge and in front of the gates.
The whole army of darkness were destroyed, adding their numbers to the dead, rising in total to over 500, while 6 ravens were flying high over the battlefield, witnesses of glorious dwarven bravery.
