I've made a huge mistake.

Did you crossbreed HFS and a dragon, and then set it loose on a necromancer?

(I want crossbreeding to be a thing, that would be awesome)

So you would have an undead demon dragon creature charging at your pitiful military.

The scary thing is, I could do that in my fort if it was possible.

So I decided to make a new fort in an untamed wilds biome.

In month 2 a couple of alligators attacked, and my dwarves dispatched of one rather easily.
Two months of fighting alligator #2, this happened.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All 5 dwarves died of dehydration...

Edit: The Dwarven civilization has also been wiped out on this map. Things are going dreadfully slow with two dwarves.

Edit2: A migration wave of 3 dwarves came. Four months of non-stop fighting the alligator finally succumbed.

The whole scenario with dead civs might actually be mitigated by the next version's features, which should be cool. No more Syrupleaf extinction scenarios, though replacing large portions of the fort's population with goblins and furries may not be much better.

Goblin ambush showed its ugly face, killed most of the military. The surviving swordsdwarf became Proficient, at which point a wave of migrants arrived and a cook with Talented in Swordsdwarf showed. I don't think we're going to lose so many soldiers next time.

I think the military might be a bit small, though. I should probably get at least 2 or 3 squads in addition to the guards.

I think the term you were looking for was "personnel", Pyro.

I have just embarked upon the rare partial-aquifer.  I actually used DFHack to reveal it, b/c I could not for the life of me figure out what was going on.  I had no idea that you could settle on the border of an aquifer.  That said, being able to dig around & under, then pierce the side for projects will be extremely valuable.

I imagine it would usually happen if you settle on the edge of two or more biomes - one biome would have the aquifer and one wouldn't, etc.

Had a web-shooting forgotten beast that was a blob composed of mud attack. Killed untold amounts of cavern life, and also fortunately webbed up most of the place (good for collection!). Unfortunately, it somehow found its way from the top cavern to the bottom cavern where I had an opening, and attacked my dwarfs. It webbed and killed my Military Commander, and her husband (the hammerer) came and beat it to death. He felt nothing by her death, and just claimed her celery roast and went back to duty.

I just had the exact same situation.  2 Dralthas got walled in with my Dwarves (Cavern Fortress).  After several months of beating, the Dralthas finally expired, but not before ripping the leg off a Farmer who immediately went insane and crafted a Marble Flute worth 37.8k Dwarfbucks.

My garbage dump is probably the bloodiest place in history...

(spoilers censored. 8| )

Really makes me wish liquids would actually eventually gather in real pools, instead of just being contaminants.
Also I feel like I can add a few more smears, spatterings and pools to that.
