Wealthtrades is now affixing everything to everything else in attempt to get the most decorated items ever.  The progress is slow since they seem to spread the decoration out over everything.  The highest is a 20,000 dwarfbuck horse bone scepter that has 5 types of dimond, silver, nickel and lead attached to it.  I've got cloth and bone decoration up now (some high value gems without so I can buy elf caravans for the next ten years or so locked away).

The elfs are providing me with an elephant army which I intend to pit against the HFS.  I've constructing a 10 floors of fun for the HFS to come up through that relies on the random animals in my fort.  Hopefully the FPS drop from breaching will be offset by the deaths of 50 or so war dogs.

Shoot for 50 of everything. Make a floor of only war dragons.

I just got a migrant wave. among the unwashed masses was Kol Blueplanks, war peasant.

....what?

the only modding I did was to make the dwarves faster and make it so they couldn't sleep (it makes me feel like a slave driver). He appears to only have skill in butchery....

So I embark on a new area, look around a bit, decide that I like it and designate some digging. I unpause, the miners dig out 7 tiles, the woodcutter chops a single tree, and then-

If dwarves could be hated to death, I'm pretty sure the map would just be a fine red vapour by now.

I hate them all so, so much.

Finally finished the grand digging project. My Fortress' portion of the mountain is now entirely separated from the rest of the mountain:

Giving up after a day of trying to gen a flat volcano with no luck (0.31.10), I wiped out the saves and generated a world to just mess around in. I spotted the sole volcano during gen, and out of habit zoomed to it on embark.

I was able to place the site so that the flat regions just southwest of it occupied most of the site--as close to a flat volcano I can manage, I guess.

The volcano is 1z level below the wagon, and thus close enough to be considered level with the majority of the flat region.

The volcano is surrounded by 44z of nearly shear cliffs.

Needless to say I immediately made a (pristine) backup of the world. But now, what's the fastest way to level a mountain?

Checking through my stocks I noticed I had a masterwork Adamantine Longsword in a fort less than a year old...

This should be fun.

I shall build a tower made of gold and silver, and massacre my goblin prisoners to dedicate it to Armok!

Following something from another thread, I'm now going to test to see if a magma fall in front of the trade depot that goes through grates causes pathing errors.

It should, the water will still hang over the grate a second before passing through, so it'll interrupt pathing while it's running.

I spawned in the perfect place, rivers on three sides, two of them CLIFFS.

Now I can funnel the goblins where they need to be!

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

Dammit.  And here I was hoping that I'd be able to path elves through magma

However, if you set up a series of pumps to make a lava mist generator then anyone passing by will get roasted by the superheated vapours.

Ooh, elaborate.  I did test the grate waterfall and yes, it does fuck pathfinding, but it was fun.
