Hey,

If you were familiar with the genre you might know that text-based gaming is kind of fragmented. Also Imaginary-Realities was defunct for quite some time and only recently began producing articles again. Which wouldn't have mattered because -I- personally wasn't even aware of the publication until after I'd created the community and website. Now in the interest of disclosure, I did contact the current owner/editor of Imaginary-Realities and personally apologize. They are also our #1 linkback on our connections page and we have a prominent forum thread that links to all their new issues. We are also a member of http://planet-muddev.disinterest.org/ which is run by the same person who manages Imaginary-Realities.

So there isn't any bad blood that I'm aware of between us and in a way we have joined forces by affiliation! Someday I do hope that the editor will have time to do a satellite contribution to our weekly article section but he is pretty busy.

EDIT - PS: The creator of the Evennia Game engine over at http://www.evennia.com/ who is named Griatch was the guy who tipped me off to the name similarities when he was contributing an article. So big thanks to him for putting us in touch with each other. He is also a writer over at Imaginary-Realities.

We've got a little over 24 hours left on the 600 word game pitch contest. If you think you have a good idea for a text-based game like Zork, or Dwarf fortress, or a traditional MUD/MUSH/MOO/MUX than put your ideas into a PDF and send it our way for potential cash prizes.

Orpheus is the Head Staffer over at Burning Post II a text-based rpg. He wrote us an article about player-killing and whether to restrict it or not.

Shadows of Isildur went to shit when some crackheads on the staff decided to remove the option to play as orcs. I don't even slightly understand what they were smoking, but that's just garbage.

I also wasn't a huge fan of the RPP aspect, as I can roleplay just as well (if not better) than anyone on the server and still had to play a snaga. Pretty lame.

Also consider that you can't play kids (IIRC) and that a chunk of decent roleplayers over on the other side were just sexhavers. Pretty lame, overall.

End random bomb.

Are you to cool to check out Optional Realities? Don't think anyone submitted a game proposal worth looking at? Well aha we've converted our 1st place winner (Usurper by Griatch of the Evennia codebase) into an article to remove all obstacles of viewing it.

Look at it and be wow'd by text-based gaming potential.

I wish that would be made. Are there any interesting games made with Evennia?

Some of those ideas are pretty cool!
Personally I wasn't a fan of Usurper's multi-character mechanic, but the setting seemed quite interesting.
My personal favourite was Grey. Mainly just for the idea of hamming it up as some ridiculously edgy, 'dark-and-mysterious' '90s comic villain with muscles on their muscles and a terribly daft backstory. :P And tonnes of guns and gadgets, of course!

The Evennia engine does not have any released games yet to my knowledge. If you scroll down from that link you'll see active projects of which Project Redshift is one of them. We are in development and you can find out more by checking out the links further back in this thread or going here: http://optionalrealities.com/forums/index.php?board=1.0

Both of these last couple posts are pretty awesome...I appreciate the updates, even if I'm a bit lurky and don't post much, I still pop in to read them! I miiiiight participate in that contest because it sounds like a lot of fun, and I should have free time enough before the end of the month, since that's a pretty good deadline!
