I'm sorely tempted but trying not to take on so much, so throw me on the replacement list.

Hmm. I'm mildly curious as to what kind of busy, but I also know it's none of my business.
Alright. Next game, then.

Well, nice to see so much interest!

@Cheesecake: Yes, although be warned that this is a complicated game. I strongly recommend that you read though all of the previous games so that you know how it works before things get too far along.

I have returned and the list is updated. Signups will stay open through today. Tomorrow morning I will close sign-ups and the game will start sometime later that day.

A dark storm rolled through the hills last night. Lightning and thunder like none experienced in living memory. A Dark night, and one full of Dark Deeds.

The bells of the Church ring out in mourning as the news spreads. The High Priest is dead! Only his head left behind, sitting upon the very alter of his Church. Who could possibly have done such a horrible thing? And why?

The Baron calls forth the fourteen most influential of the townsfolk. You are among them. As you stand before his throne he beckons his steward to come forward. The man holds in his hand a large book, the Book of Dooms.

"Ahem." he coughs. "When Great Peril does come to the land, it shall be the duty of the Pillars of the Community to step forward. Fourteen shall stand, and Fourteen shall answer. Not to the laws of Men, but the laws of the Creator. For Judge they shall have only themselves, and to Seek Justice they need only look amongst one another. For the Pillars hold up the Land, and there is Rot among the Pillars. Day upon Day shall they Vote, casting down Pillar after Pillar until all the Rot is excised. Seek well and Vote True, for if the Rot is left all the Land shall suffer."

The Baron thanks him and turns to you.

"I...never thought I'd see the day when that passage would hold true. But with such a desecration...there is no doubt. Go to the Town Hall to conduct this...Trial, I suppose. I will have my Guards surround it. Seek well and find those who plot against us, please!"

Murmurs erupt amongst the group as you are escorted to the Hall. Who of your neighbours would do such a thing? How can you condemn your fellow townsfolk to death?

But you must. The Rot must be found. You must Vote.

The Trial has Begun.

The Game has started! Day 1 will go until ~5pm Pacific Monday

Indeed! An ice-breaker question is in order.

All:

In a single word, describe what you believe what the most important aspect of Mafia is. Expound if you wish.

EPenguin: Welcome back.  What did you learn from your last game here that you think will be useful in this game?

spruce: How did you find playing with NQT?  What did you like about his playstyle in the championship?

Cheesecake: Welcome to the subforum.  What, if any, previous Mafia experience do you have?

OSG: Is this the party that we are to get started?  (PPE: Apparently, yes.)  More seriously, Meph games tend to have clues in the flavour.  How much attention will you pay to the flavour and when?

All: In a single word, describe what you believe what the most important aspect of Mafia is. Expound if you wish.
birdy51: Welcome back.  You haven't played here for a while.  Do you think your playstyle now will be significantly different than that before your break?

As for your question, information.  This is both the starting difference in information held by each side's members, and the constant creation and acquisition of new information to base actions on.  This is a game about gaining information for oneself and one's side while carefully controlling the information other sides get.  It is a game about interpreting the information one's gathered to help one take the best actions possible (and hopefully to help one's team take the best actions possible).

Jack: Why did you kill the High Priest?

OSG: What do you think of the closed setup?

spruce: How do you expect this game to go?

Toonyman: What differences do you expect in this game as opposed to a more normal game?

All:

In a single word, describe what you believe what the most important aspect of Mafia is. Expound if you wish.

First word: Voting. If people don't do it, the town tends to lose.

Another word: Dying.

Jack: Why did you kill the High Priest?
TDS: I didn't.  What were you expecting to learn with this question?

origamiscienceguy: You missed my question.  Also, any reason for the joke answer to birdy's question?
