During her dialogue with Derek, Cynthia realises she's wandered back to the 'dark, foreboding entrance'.
Stepping through on a whim, after a while she finds the room made from lit candles.
"Hmm..."
Cynthia takes a closer look at one of the candles.

No matter how long you stare, it isn't melting or dimming in the slightest. That glowing rune might have something to do with it.

"I'll take it." says Cynthia with her best Commander Shepard voice.
She takes a candle. Holding it perpendicular against her arm, she grows a strap of sorts over it made from skin, letting her keep her hands free and the flaming end pointed away from her. She does look like she's been impaled by a candle, though, but meh.

(20) She sees a light. Not candles this time... daylight. She exits into fresh air, seeing the school building on a plateau above her, and town below. She hears a voice in her
<Now that's a surprise. I thought this entrance was closed up by a rock slide years ago. If you can map the way to it, we could use this as an entrance for those afraid of the pit-jump entrance.>

Cynthia tries to map out: first, the way to the candle room (as a checkpoint of sorts) and the roughly the path she took from there to here.
