"Most enchantments require both a Runic Array and a powersource, there are rare exceptions however, such as divine objects. Often this power source is the innate magical energy most beings produce. Effectively a preprepared spell. Upon draining, the weapon will cease to function, unless it is Vampiric, in which case it will power itself from its user's life force or its victims. Some Supnats have magical fields and auras that overload normal Runic Arrays, an example of this would be Kitsune. If a Kitsune attempted to use the previously mentioned flaming sword, the runes would surge and either explode or fizzle out. Foxfire is too potant for a normal Rune, which is why you rarely see a Kitsune with enchanted items. They explode. When you do see a Kitsune with something enchanted, odds are it's either divine and granted by one of the number of spirits and deities most Inari caretake for or it's using specialized runes that have been modified to handle Foxfire."

In general, while the enchantments you hear of most are generally on weapons such as the aforementioned flaming sword, in reality most are on mundane objects, to make life a bit easier. Take this, for example" the teacher taps a desk, "This desk has been enchanted to be impervious to most damage. Which is rather smart, because as Kiri said, enchantments have a tendency to explode when they go wrong. Does anyone know of other types of enchantments, other than the kind with Runes?"
