Generally you don't feel like hitting stuff after being tasered. You feel like resting because your entire body just convulsed repeatedly.

Also to be fair. Kiri normally prefers subtle revenge. Such as making your food taste like dogshit for a day or two. The only reason he got set off so badly was because John started going off about literally eating distant relatives of Kiri. It's pretty damn hard to piss Kiri off. There are four subjects that will set him off like that.

Does Kiri go on a rampage when bears or wolfs go after foxes for food too?

Do bears mouth off at the foxperson pulling fire out of nothing?

Dunno, do bears speak with kitsunes?

But Kiri asked if John had seen many foxes and John had, at this point, no reason not to say that he not only has seen but had eaten them too.

The thing about the animals. All animals in Japanese folklore can become powerful, so recklessly killing bears for hunting foxes gets the attention of the bear gods.
That's not to mention the nature spirits, which would be angered greatly.
So basically, it's not that simple.

Pretty sure there's a wolf and bird equivalent. I don't know off the top of my head if there is a bear equivalent.

Tengu are for crows, although I'm probably wrong as I can't check my lore right now.

In Japanese folklore, even sufficiently old TEA SETS could be OP.

Well, the Kitsune are associated with a god, so they have a bonus on that part. But cats don't and they get fire magic and necromancy.
Not to mention, Kitsune aren't the most durable things around.
So there's still the spirit animals.

If there wasn't something protecting the bears, why would they be around?
