((That could be troublesome. Should I see if the wizards locally have any buried ancestors they might let us loot? If they do, they might want a share, or a particular item.))

((If we go that way we'll be spending another RP. I say we risk the curse. It's the best option of the ones we've got, and the curse is only hypothetical, not confirmed.

That being said, you can spend your RP however you like.))

Action: try to find out if the curse is genuine, and if so, what effects it has. Probably via the magician's circles Kala has access to.

This is going to cost you 1 RP (information isn't cheap). Also it would help me out if you were a bit more specific (are you contacting a friend, checking around town, doing research etc?) "via magician's circles" isn't much to go on.

((Yeah, use an RP. Also, talking to her contacts among the town magicians and researching lore, trying to find out what they know about the curse and what it does. ))

((Ok that's much better))

You speak to several of your fellow mages around town, following leads, exchanging coin and drink for information, perusing old scrolls. At the end of several days of searching your results are less than stellar. There are many theories, many more rumors and few concrete facts. Everyone with a tongue and a wet throat has a story about the Valley. It is difficult to tell the hogwash from the truth.

Old diaries and journals mention unending bad luck, diseases, even divine retribution. Yet in each case, it is difficult to tell whether the misfortune was caused by any sort of "curse" from the Valley, or just coincidence. On the other hand, you do remember the ancients of your tribe telling you stories about the gods, how they manipulate the world so subtly that no one can tell whether they've interfered, but through their soft touch great wonders come to pass. They told you it was the purest form of magic. You didn't believe them. Magic is anything but subtle.

Several of your contacts have advised you to obtain permission, others to abandon the enterprise entirely, and some to ignore, what they regard as foolish superstition. The only thing that seems to be certain, is that the curse, if there even is one, is neither obvious nor immediate. Which probably means it is the result of fear mixed with imagination.

But who can say? The world is too strange for narrow-mindedness.

Kala returned to the others, looking aggrieved.
"Bunch of old men, chewing on their beards and muttering nonsense.

Well, couldn't get anything solid on the curse. If it exists, it's certainly subtle, and that doesn't really fit my knowledge of magic at all. I'd say it's worth risking. We could play it safe and try getting permission, but why a bunch of bones should care what some distant descendant said is another matter. It'd probably cost a bunch, too..."

She heaved a yawn.

"I'd say we risk it. If we do get cursed, I'll just blame you, Arvin, for getting me into this particular bit of business in the first place, heheh."

"I agree. I'm not afraid of a curse so subtle it can be mistaken as coincidence...I mean, I technically wasn't cursed before and my teammate lost a leg. I think we make our own fates."

((also, another team vote.

Do we want to wait for Tiruin to make four? I'm sending another PM...Or do we just go with three? Or perhaps try and recruit Astra/Twinwolf-who, if nothing else, would be a decent damage sponge with her heavy armor. I'm good with any of them, though I'd lean to bringing along Astra.

Note, if we go with three people, Sercon will have spend his resource point on a candle so we can have light for three people-we currently have a torch for two.))

(Don't I start with a torch? Also I would be fine with taking Twinwolf if s/he wants to come.)

"Agreed. Are we waiting on anyone else, or are we going to set out immediately?" Logan extinguished his cigarette and tucked it into a pouch on his belt for later.

((Yeah, a torch only gives light for two people tho. Anyway, it dose not matter if TW comes along, he's got his own torch.))

Unless another person from my letter shows up..."

Astra wanders into wherever the group is.

((I'm available.

Also, GM question: is there a limit to the number of people in a party? Because it'd be awesome to go into a tomb with like 20 people. Not when it comes time to divvy up loot, but still))

((A 20 person party? :P We'd have trouble fitting in the door. I don't see why it would be impossible, except who'd want to split loot 20 ways...))

Arvin waved Astra over.

"My friends, this is Astra-as you can see by her armor, her trade is in blade and steel. Where wits fail and muscle is needed, she can earn her keep with us, I promise you that." He said...tactfully leaving out that she wasn't the most diligent of puzzle solvers.
