This is a reboot of Trader of Favors, a game set in a modified version of the dwarf fortress universe.
You have 300 "debt points" to spend upon character creation. Leftover debt will be confiscated by your former liege-lord, as will be the property that you do not arrange to be taken. It's worth noting that these prices are greatly inflated by illegality.
Backstory, memories, and skills retained.
-Soldier of Hell: Before becoming a Pact-Binder you were a common foot soldier in Hell's legions. You quickly rose through the ranks and became the leader of an auxiliary detachment. You are skilled with the sword, the mace and the spear, and know how to organize a small force efficiently and effectively. You also remember leaving that life behind by impressing your lord with your cunning and charisma, and becoming a higher order of demon, a pactbinder. 70 debt point cost.
-Tutor of Witches: The black arts of mortals are something many demons of your stature seek out, and you are no exception. The libraries of hell are the greatest source of such information in the whole of the cosmos. You spent nearly a century on such arts, but cannot afford to arrange for anything more than the highlights of those memories to be protected. That is still enough to give you skill in black magic however, and to remember the many witches and warlocks you have cavorted with and taught the black arts too, some may even be alive today. (Black magic focuses primarily on witchcraft, a magic which requires sacrifice with which to power it's magics). 120 Debt Point cost.
-Lord of Demons: You remember some things about the intricate and dizzying politics of hell. A game you played well, and still managed to lose. You remember all of the important figures, the Dukes and Princes and Kings of hell, and most importantly you remember the lord you served. A creature you will certainly take vengeance upon. 100 Debt Point Cost.
-Trader of Favors: You are deeply familiar with the marketplaces of the cosmos. You know where to get things, and how to get them. You know when you are being cheated by a devious merchant, or being led into a trap by a cunning thief. Mortal economics seem almost boring to you when you must be prepared to deal with the markets of a hundred thousand worlds. Your dealings with mortals have also helped you to better understand and smooth over their sensibilities. 80 Debt Point cost.
-Walker Among Worlds: You have had to learn the extremely subtle art of journeying through worlds, of which there are two methods. The first is to have the power to tear asunder the folds between planes and walk from one to another. You have not ever possessed this gift. The other is to find the cracks and seems between worlds, to find the key which opens them, and to quite simply slip from one to another. Unfortunatly it is much more difficult to see what is on the other side of such a seam in reality. It's an art form really, and a deeply useful skill to have, though dangerous to use. 150 point debt cost.
-The name of your liege: You have elected, quite simply, to know the name and appearance of your liege-lord. 5 point debt cost. (Lord of Demon's includes this knowledge)
Your body.
Your Lord intends to suck ever piece of power from your body that he can, leaving you nothing more than the husk you entered into hell as in a time you do not even remember. This he will do, but you can arrange for this to soon be remedied. Which of your bodily characteristics will you reclaim?
-Claws: You will be granted a set of demonic claws. These are not the weapons of a mere beast, but formed of concentrated and nearly unbreakable hell stuff. Fortunatly they will not effect the dexterity of your hands to any degree. 15 debt point cost.
-Horns: Horns are a symbol of status and power among demonkind, and serve as a focus for a demon's mental powers. Small Horns provide enough of a focus to attune to the thoughts of mortals, allowing you to read their emotional state at all times and understand a mortal's intended meaning even when you do not speak their language. Large Horns can be used to inspire feelings within those who behold your visage, including awe, fear or despair. 25 point debt cost for small horns, 40 for large ones.
-A demon's eyes: The eyes of a true demon are very difficult to fool. They pierce illusions and are granted conventional sight beyond that of a mortal. It is nearly impossible to hide from the true sight of a demon, which can discern even the smallest details. 40 dept point cost.
-The demon's strength: Until you recover your strength the husk you will be placed in will be as weak as a mortals flesh and blood body, but without the possibility of an afterlife. Reinforcing your weak body with hellstuff will rectify this issue, leaving your body as durable as stone and granting you strength greatly beyond that of mortal muscle. 50 debt point cost.
-Wings: Wings are greatly useful and are a status symbol both in and outside of hell. They allow you to soar above out of the reach of much danger, and the hell stuff they are made of is far more resilient than the body you reside in, which makes them useful both for protection and as weapons. Alternatively you could alter your skeletal structure to make the acquisition of wings much easier, even going so far to craft flightless wings of bone. 60 debt point cost (20 to change bone structure, 40 to craft skeletal wings).
-Tail: The tail is not a symbol of great status or power among demonkind, but it can convey a number of useful abilities. At it's most basic level a tail of simple flesh can aid in balance, dexterity and stealth, leaving you much more agile. A flesh tail further empowered can be a potent and useful weapon,a tail with greater mass, and armed with spikes of hell-stuff on it's end will outmatch any mortal blade or pike. (30 debt points for basic tail, 40 debt points for weaponized tail.)
-Stature: Size and mass is itself a symbol of power among most everyone, and serves to better increase your might and presence. It does however make things like subtlety more difficult, and makes you a bigger target for those who would do you harm. (20 debt points)
-Extra Arms: Extra arms are not the most subtle of features, but they are quite useful all the same. (20 debt points.)
-Demon's Hunger: Demons do not eat. They do however hunger, and must feed on the metaphysical excess of mortals to remain strong, or risk slowly withering away. As a Pactbinder you've tended to metabolize the debt of others more than most anything else, and so your essence is quite attuned to acquiring such, though less prepared to consume and devour the food most other demons are accustomed to. Acquiring the demon's hunger will give you the metabolism to better manipulate the energies of suffering, fear, and rage that mortals give off, giving you the tools to better use these energies not only to feed yourself, but also to fuel magic and grow more powerful in form and essence. (50 Debt Points)
Property
You have holdings within hell, and while it obviously won't be possible to have your estate delivered to you some possessions may be possible to have stolen away before your lord claims them.
-Your Sword: In your possession you have a fine Hell-Forged sword perfect for fighting angels and the like, though you shudder at the thought. It cuts as a razor does but will not dull within a dozen lifetimes. Except for it's dark color and fine craftsmanship it looks quite unremarkable, though is warm to the touch. 15 debt point cost.
-Fine Clothes: You are to be brought to the moral plane naked, while you have no shame of your unholy body it may make mortals uneasy to find you unclothed. 5 Debt Points.
-Spellbook: Previously only a curiosity this is a book of mortal arcane magic. It does not have the ease or cruel glee of the dark arts, but it could be useful nonetheless. 30 Debt Points.
-Witches Blade: This cruel dull knife is not a terribly useful weapon, but has been stained in the blood of the innocent in ritual sacrifice and grants some power to aid in similiar such rituals. 20 Debt Points.
-Shadowcloak: A Magical shroud that when draped around your person will drape you in shadow. In bright daylight it's not effective in fully hiding you from vigilant eyes, but in the deep of night it will keep you from all but a demon's sight. (20 Debt Points)
-Mortal Husk: This is a mortal slave of yours ridden of their soul, essentially a demon without the thousands of years of requisite torture and habitation in hell necessary to forge it into a creature of hate and power. It is weak willed and without conscience. It has a difficult time thinking for itself, but is not yet entirely rid of some of it's mortal instincts, and so has some limited motivations you may be able to guide. 15 Debt points.
-Indebted Imp: A servant in your employ and already essentially a convicted felon, this imp acquired such massive debt to you that when you called in your debt it's only option was to pledge eternity in your service, a pact no demon would make if they could possibly avoid it. This necessitated him reneging on his fealties, rendering him an outlaw and a deserter. If you get word to him he will have no choice but to meet you, if you do not he will be as free as an outlaw on the run can be. He has some small magical talent and is a higher order imp, a position that allows him some small power similiar to your own, and the limited ability to charm and fool mortals, potentially a quite useful servant. 50 Debt Points.
-Nightmare: A demonic stallion of the highest pedigree. It is a powerful fighter in it's own right, with unending endurance and greater speed than most mortal horses. It is however, as stupid as any regular sort of animal, and while it's demonic appearance is commonplace in hell, in mortal realms it would likely be the subject of fear and hate. 40 Debt points.
-Hell-Forged Chainmail: Not your finest set of armour, previously owned by one of your bodyguards in fact, but the material of this shirt is much stronger than mortal steel, and you would have a hard time finding it's match in practicality, even if it is rather plain. 15 Debt Points.
-Writ of Transit: This document will give you free reign to travel through hell so long as you do not remain for longer than six days. Though previously only a tool to bargain with this is now something that could be useful to you one day. 25 Debt Points.
-Stone of Hellstuff: This is a rock made out of concentrated hellstuff, on it's own unbreakable but largely useless. With magic however this object could be threaded into material and forged into a metal that will last millennia, or even used to strengthen part of your own body. 10 Debt Points.
-Bag: Though it is beyond extortionate your allies are asking for debt to be paid even to provide you with a common container. This particular satchel is of fine craftsmanship, with a variety of different sorts of pouches and pockets, but is in large part unremarkable. 5 Debt Points.
