It's been a while, B12. And in my absence I've learned very few things, but one I remembered pretty good was how to play mafia, and I figure I'm smart enough to run a game now. I've also worked on a little creative writing, and got the idea from the current-as-of-this Beginner's Mafia for a food themed game.

[/b] Twelve hour days and nights, but nights are shortened if the scum team decides early. Thread is locked during the night, obvs. Players have to vote for no lynch to occur, and scum can opt not to night kill if they so please. Votes are in red, and no extensions because I'm an impatient moderator. Posting any PMs for me or links to the appropros quicktopics (deadchat, scumchat) is a good way to get banned. Dead players get one last post, and may not reveal any game pertinent information.

For years, Bush's Grilling Bean's recipe has been a secret closely guarded by the frantic psychopath Jay "Asmodeus" Bush, and his loyal canine servitor, Duke. For years, bush's employees have endured human rights violations the likes of which have never been seen. That ends today.

A cabal of highly trained employees have stolen the recipe right out from under the Beanmaster and hellish dog's collective nose. With the profits of the sale of the recipe, everyone involved will be able to live a life of luxury, free from the horrors of a canned bean magnate. Everyone was ready to flee the premises with the parchment containing the recipe... that is, until the security system trapped them in the bean processing lab.

Someone had to have tripped the alarm in the office. Someone has to be working for the Bean Man and his beast. And they are in this very room. You all quickly decide that the only way to find out who and retrieve the access code is to vote, one at a time, who must be dipped in Original Mesquite SauceŠ, and be forced to both suffer a horrible death, and reveal their most closely guarded secrets.

Bean Processor
You're one of the employees who collaborated with the others to steal the recipe and free yourself from barbecue flavored tyranny. You don't know who's who, but you get a say in who gets dipped. You win when there's no scum left.

Paranoid Bean Processor
You've had it with this friggin place! You have a can of beans open, boiled, and ready to sling at whoever comes by to see you while you're sleeping. You win when there's no scum left.
Marks any visitors in the night automatically, regardless of death. Visitors show up as beaned the next day. Does not protect from death.

Altruistic Bean Processor
You want everybody to make it out of here alive. Nobody needs to get hurt, and you intend to make sure no "Accidents" happen in the middle of the night, and you've got the office keys to keep people safe, even from themselves. You win when there's no scum left.
Can protect one person per night, this also roleblocks those protected. Protecting PBP results in beaning beaned

THE BEAN MAN
Jay Bush, at your service. You haven't signed deals with numerous demons and committed a laundry list of human rights violations to lose it all to a bunch of accountants. You win when you either outnumber or equal town.
You confer with your scum team mate on whom to kill in the night. You can perform this kill, as can the other member of the team. Killing a PBP will result in their death and you being beaned

Duke
How the hell did a dog get confused as an employee? Either way, you're in your master's service (bound by a contract written in virgin's blood), to protect the recipe. You win when you either outnumber or equal town.
You may use your sense of smell to identify one player per night. Visiting the PBP results in you appearing beaned the next day.

As mafia goes, this is a minor step up from beginner's mafia in terms of complexity.

There are also FAR fewer active players than there were back in those days.

Less active players, 12 hour phases (this is the big one for me), a new mod, and a new setup.  Paranormal is not really a good baseline (anything Meph runs fills up very quickly, even now).

It's just that...that 12 hour night phase. What purpose does the shortened time limit offer?

I mean it'll work out, I guess, if everyone was in the same timezone like the USA-people here.
But I'm from the Philippines.

And all the words after that 'but' can be replaced by your appropriate nation/state and timezone inferred, to emphasize the point.

...But seriously. What's the purpose?
