I saw an article on about plastic eating fungus other day, but I'm not sure we can just set it free somewhere without causing a population boom and leading some species to extinction... Well, that's the life.

California is going to run out of water this decade.  California produces a LOT of food for north america, and will probably stop when that happens.

Ocean acidification is going to wipe out most of the species in the ocean.  The whole world depends on the ocean for a LOT of food. 

Wars for food are coming unless we figure out an alternative ASAP.

:v it would help a fair bit if we finally figured out a reasonable and cheap way of properly producing potable water from sea water and had superior transgenic crops. Also, the US relies on cattle meat a bit too much, and cattle meat is a very space inefficient food source, since you need TONS of land for cattle grazing, land that could otherwise be used for producing crops.

Also yea, we seriosly should consider reducing human population because at this rate we'll become a warhammer 40k hive world in the next century, if we even remain stable that long.
