Welcome to 42 Crates
What is 42 Crates?
42 Crates is an arena game where all the contestants are dropped into a ring containing 42 crates of varying sizes. Each crate contains a single randomly-created artifact. What are these artifacts? Well, they range from a pen-sized gatling gun that fires exploding lasers at your target, to an eldritch dog the size of a house that repels shrimp. You won't know until you open the crate and read the manifest inside.

So how do you play?
Each turn, every player can take 1 FULL action and one OTHER action, 2 OTHER actions
A 'FULL' action is 1 of 2 things:
1) Open a crate and claim the artifact inside
2) Use an artifact larger than 'palm-sized'
An OTHER action accounts for:
1) other stuff, like 'Run away', 'Hide behind a crate' and 'beg for mercy'
2) Using a tiny or smaller artifact.

Using an artifact or doing something appropriate triggers a die-roll, which uses the chart as follows:

• [1]If Artifact targets someone, it targets you, if it's meant to target you, it targets the nearest player. Otherwise, see 2
• [2]You mess up and don't use the artifact
• [3,4,5] You use the artifact correctly
• [6] You use the artifact but it's effects (if applicable) apply to you too.
  

Damage follows Chunky Salsa rules. You die when you would die.

How do I win?
Kill everyone else. Alliances are temporary. Kill your buddies. Stab your pals. Get the loot. Survive.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the 24th edition of 42 Crates! I'm your host, Lorenz, and today we have 6 contestants, all fighting to secure the one million pound grand prize!
What's in those boxes? Not even we know! But the one thing we do know is that whatever's in those brown crates, they'll slaughter each other with them!

The crowd roars in approval as the clanking platform lowers you slowly into the sweltering football-pitch sized arena.

Scattered around the pillars and walls (of which there are also 42) are 42 boxes of massively varying size.

The platform tilts and spills you out onto the sand. A box is in front of each of you. They are all marked.

Your box is marked Alpha-turn-3, and is huge.

Yours has Tango-talk-Secret. It's kinda handbag-sized?

This box has Xur-hug-6 on it , but is only the size of your finger.

Yours is labelled Tango-lingly-Turnip, being quite small

This is just  'XXX-ator-Moderator' apparently. It's the size of your torso.

You clutch the small box marked Xur-ator Gee greedily.
