Does the mountainhome physically exist before...
« on: March 31, 2015, 08:54:31 pm »

Before your fort become the capital?

I ask because you can embark with a nearly dead civ. But still you get a liaison and a caravan from the mountainhome. There is a king but I can never track him in the adventurer mode.

There's a mountainhome. You can also find the dwarven king in adventurer mode. Enter a fortress of a well established dwarven civ and then look for the staricase down into the caverns which has a large road leading all over the place to many different dwarven mountain halls and other dwarven fortresses. I think just that whole network is the mountainhomes. There is like human, elven, and goblin sites a specific capital city where the king and sometimes other nobles hang out, to distinguish it look for where the king lives in legends mode.

But what if you have no other sites?
There is still a king in the c menu, but how do I get the information where to find him?

If you have no other sites then the liaison is bluffing and they probably just live in a cave somewhere. To find where they actually live make a copy of the save, abandon the fort in the copy then go to legends and get the name of the king, look him up, find the site he's in, then look that up. I'd recomend legendsviewer because that's probably going to be easier.

I don't know, try legendsviewer then. I don't really know how to operate standard legends.

Really? Oh. Normally it will have a related sites section that has where they live. I don't really know, but I'd guess if there isn't one it means they're travelling?

Search the history of The Tender Hatchet and you should find a date when their mountainhome was destroyed. The king (or one of his ancestors) has probably been wandering around the local region as a refugee ever since.

Worldviewer sometimes does a better job of tracking down individual dwarves for some reason.

-edit Actually, what does in-game Legends say about him?
If he was made homeless at some point, he should have a 'Fled into the Desert of Hell' or similar entry.

Unfortunately, no.
The in game legends mode shows he was of unknown parentage, became the diplomat of my civ in 1002 and the king in 1009.

I guess if he was in my fort before I abandoned the site, I should see the "fled into xxx" event. But currently he's just a wanderer.

Unknown parentage?
I have a feeling he isn't a normal king.

Nah, "unknown parentage" just means the parents aren't historical figures. It's fairly common in nearly-extinct civs.
