The tactical engine in this game reminds me of Panzer General @ fantasy settings.
Ya mean Fantasy General? (In case you're wondering, yes, SSI also made a Sci-Fi version of PG)

The scifi version was much, much worse than the other generals, though. I absolutely loved Fantasy General when I bought it as a kid - that soundtrack! - and so getting the space general thingy was a huge disappointment.

I've been following this for a while, but never got around making a thread. *adjusts hipster classes* You could say I heard about it like far before it was cool, yeah. Like bummer, total soldouts now.

The game certainly reads good, but whether it plays good is another thing entirely. The devs were active online, posting feature introductions and nation descriptions up until a year ago or so. Then it all suddenly stopped, which I kind of think to be a bad sign. I hope this won't be another Magna Mundi -style cancellation where it suddenly turns out that the game is completely unfinished and not worth trying to scavenge.

Yeah, I was a bit worried as well. I haven't seen new screenshots or infos for a long time now. Also, there are no gameplay videos at all, only that alpha footage. Weird marketing for sure. :o
Anyway, according to this post, the release date is Q2.

Finally, some news! Sovereignty enters Early Access and gets a Stream! -> http://store.steampowered.com/app/312430/
"To better show all the features of the game we will stream it tomorrow 1st April (no joke!) on our official Twitch Channel at 20 CEST/2pm EDT!"

~75mins of gameplay footage: http://www.twitch.tv/slitherinegroup/c/6455579

It looks very promising and polished already. I usually never pay for Early Acces games, but now I've decided to buy it on apr 9, when the EA will be available. The devs have mentioned on Twitch yesterday, that the game will stay in EA for ~1 year, because they want to work with the community to add new gameplay elements & tweaking + enhancing what is needed before they release v1.0. [Like a supply system, new unit and hero abilities like the shield wall vs cavalry charges etc. etc.]
They've also mentioned that modding is supported, we can create basically everything, including units, heroes, new realm spells, new maps etc.

I love the idea of this game, Although I would love it even more if the map was random everytime I played (the map is beautiful btw).
But I like the fact there's lore in it.

Massive list of factions, beautiful and simple UI

The video can be found on YT now as well. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4WqpJPgpJk

Yeah, a map generator would be good to have later on....so far all we know is that we can create new maps via modding. Since the game will be in EA for a year, we can make suggestions while it's in EA. The devs will "monitor" the requests, and if they like a particular one [especially if it's a popular request by more costumers], they might add the feature. This is the whole point of the Early Access mode. [Example: We've been discussing with the devs on Twitch while the guy was streaming, and everyone agreed that a supply system must be added to the game. Sadly the streaming was over, and the devs had to go.. ::) ..but we're going to talk about it again after the EA starts.]
So, if you have suggestions, go and post about it on the Steam forum [When it's available].

*edit*
The forum is up. -> http://steamcommunity.com/app/312430/discussions/
The devs are quite active already!  8) -> http://steamcommunity.com/app/312430/discussions/0/611702631214036880/

"From the 9th on there will be regular updates coming with improvements, fixes, new features, changes, etc... based on all the feedback we get.
We will continuously analyze all ideas, comments and feedback intern and decide in consensus what we think might work, or even sometimes just add and test and see how something is received.
We are open to all options and we are here to listen and absorb your ideas and feedback.
Some bigger features we already have on our intern wishlists may take a bit more time to implement, but this was the whole idea behind the EA program, it perfectly fits with this project.
Our hopes and expectations are that in the next year or more this game will grow and improve again tremendously... the more souls we can get involved early into this community process the better.
We have committed ourselves on working and updating the game for at least a year onward.

We hope with your and the soon community feedback to lift the game up further.
If you want to continue to support us, shout it off the rooftops, the more exposure we get the better, and best advertising is mouth to mouth after the 9th... the game is already pretty decent and stable, but our aim and goal is to make it fantastic, unique and special.

Cheers,
Tim aka LZ"

That's extremely good and useful, since mobile apps for Twitch can't, seemingly, play past broadcasts. I am really looking forward to watching this, since I've heard a lot of good things about this, in contrast with what was previously a bit of pessimism. Perhaps it's just talk, just ideas changing... but here's to a potentially great fantasy strategy nevertheless!

Yep, I am going to buy the EA version tomorrow and post buttloads of suggestions if needed.  :) [I am wondering what features they plan to add while it's in EA. Developer's quote from the forum: "Some bigger features we already have on our intern wishlists". This is why I am going to get the EA version, they need suggestions and stuff, and it looks like that they are willing to listen.]

Bought the game within hours of it being put up on EA. I really like it. This could really be something amazing. It already is very flavorful, but it is EA, not a full game. I'm digging the different... what would you call them. These nations? No, these powers. You have the wicked witch of the North, whose realm is superstitiously avoided by her neighbours, who kidnaps people for... some purpose. You have the exiled cult of the Worm, far to the east, by the Boruvian Empire's extreme border, and her... curious neighbours. The vampire who looks after his people... cool.

I like the different unique units, I like the different rules that try and differentiate them. I like the simplified economy, it is very fit for purpose. I'm almost so fond of the game that I just might buy the Russian Revolution game that was advertised in the Sovereignty launcher.

It helps that even though Fantasy General for the most part is just a reskin of Panzer General...

That it does a lot of things differently anyway to make it much more than one. What I love especially is how tactics evolve depending on who you play.

The Sorcerous is one of my favorites because her Heavy Infantry are as fast as light Infantry (it is her specialty)

This is definitely something I'm going to keep on eye on. I haven't been too impressed by the AI in either of the videos I watched, but in general it does seem to be the sort of thing I like.

Yeah, I bought it too. You are absolutely right. I don't agree with you on the economy question, more on that later. If they keep adding features while it's in EA [..and they stated that they plan to add lot of new gameplay elements & they will post a development roadmap after they've made a compilation of the suggestions in the upcoming weeks], this can be a classic.

It has a decent core system already, but it needs much more features. Ex.: More spells and diplomacy options, addidtional features like a supply system, province buildings instead of the simplistic "let's spend some gold to raise the eco level of the province" approach. [The building system has been suggested more times already, and a dev replied that it is going to be added, in fact it will be responsible for other gameplay elements as well -> other than eco related buildings, there will be special buildings as well. Ex.: you can recruit more agents if you construct a specific building. The game will be more micro heavy, but it needs to be a bit more micro heavy. It will be nowhere near Dom 4.'s  micro level anyway..]
It also needs better info panels & some UI work, multiplayer etc. Thankfully the devs are willing to listen. I will make a huge post of suggestions later on @ the Steam forum, even tho there are lot of good suggestions already.

The AI needs some work as well. [The first thing what should be fixed: strategically it should focus on creating bigger armies instead of smaller marauding forces for example, and with regard to the tactical AI: ->  The AI units are rushing over rivers mindlessly @ getting killed in the process and the AI needs to learn how to defend/invade fortresses properly. Also they should position better and choose targets more carefully.]
I would say it's a "medium quality" AI now, it's not the best, but it's not the worst either. I am sure that they will improve it as soon as possible. [AFAIK one dev has mentioned it as well already..]

Overall, like I've said, it has a huge potentinal, it's up to the devs that what happens in the next year, while it's in EA.
