Also, I get the feeling we are over thinking this.

As do I.
We plan on being a mage. Mages don't wear armor. They weave strands of telekinetic energy around the body as weightless armor.

Magical armor can be many things. In case we go to an actual battle field we'll need physical protection and magical protection. Plus, It saves us time/energy on putting weaving the armor. An who knows, maybe we can use this skill to sell armor pieces to mercenaries or Hero guilds.

What about leather working? Leather can be hardened and made to be strong armor against most enemies. Plus, it can still be cashed in for sale on the market. Not to mention we can hunt a bear and skin it to make some clothes for us. Then enchant said clothes to make the bear alive and attack our enemies.

Just think about Bear clothes coming alive on you and clawing to death your enemies while they look on in shock.

So we should be a hunter? So we can kill a bear and wear it? Then enchant it to be alive?

I really would like to remind you all that we are thinking of mid to endgame stuff. By the time we reach that point. We will have learned the skills requisite for this kind of thing.

I don't. I'm Herbalist and Animal Trainer. If not Animal Trainer, then either Blacksmith or Jeweller.

Ok then. Everyone likes Jeweler?

Herbalist and hunter both have the advantage of getting food. Herbalist has the side effect of possible alchemy. Hunter has the side effect of getting furs. We have a possibility Vs a certainty.

Hunter or animal trainer/herbalist.
What's your reason for getting Hunter this time? GM confirmed we'd get food if we went with Herbalist.

By god this like a grid locked congress in the United States. LOVE IT!

Hunter or animal trainer/herbalist.
What's your reason for getting Hunter this time? GM basically confirmed we'd get food if we went with Herbalist.

Cause hunters can sell fur for money. We can use that money to then buy ourselves an inn room so we don't die of frostbite outside. :D

But how are we gonna carry that fur? Also, if we're going to die of frostbite it's on the way to the inn so that's not gonna help at all. If we're a Jeweller or a Blacksmith we can sell products or work for money and if we're an Animal Trainer we can get a hunting dog to do the hunting for us. That means we get furs, meat from hunted animals, and backup meat that follows us around. Plus, the dog's body warmth should keep us from freezing to death.

Ok, lets vote.

Our options: Jeweler/Hunter or Herbalist/Hunter or Animal Trainer/Herbalist

I vote Jeweler/Hunter!

Also, if we have a hunting dog to do the hunting for us, that frees up some time to gather edible foods as a Herbalist or we can practice magic. It'll also help us with setting baits for animals so doing some hunting ourselves isn't out of the question.

Animal Trainer/Herbalist

If not, (Jeweller/Blacksmith)/Herbalist

I think the GM should just decide so we can actually play the game.
