"Nope. Still, the basic stuff, the boring stuff, the stuff they object to, that I could handle. ...Given a century and a half to work at it, of course."

"I'm certainly far more useful than I ever was back home. I have no doubt my family, and those friends I had managed to accrue, miss me rather badly, but on the other hand I have the opportunity to be responsible for the raising of an entire planet from medieval stasis in the hands of bloodthirsty gods to a state of responsibly managed industrialism."

"Perhaps I am thinking too much into this. If there were a way back, I would likely take it, but nor, I think, will I actively seek such a thing out. Perhaps you and Wolf can use your magic to do it, but I'd have to make a stargate or something to do it with my own knowledge, so I'll stick to making better carts and more effective weapons."

I think I'm in Dwarf Fortress. The trees are right, I can see a sort of rope-reed like thing, and there's a brook with stuff in it.  Either that or I'm just in the world somewhere.

Slate 6th:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  I'M IN DWARF FORTRESS HELP THERE'S AN ELF

Wait.  Why are elves bad, again?

OH MY GOSH I'M IN DWARF FORTRESS MAGMA AND ENGINEERING AND MAGMA AND STUFF AND MAGMA

I must find some dwarves!

Slate 9th:

I looked and found some dwarves.  I'm not sure if they'd take me in.  I hope so!  I've practically memorized the entire guide.  I walked up to the guard.  "Hello?" I said.  "Are you from the other world?"

The guard, who, fortunately for the newcomer, assumes him to be sober rather than insane, leads you past some distinctly seventeenth-century defenses, through a big iron gate, and down two flights of stairs to the dining room and gives you some food, before leaving to fetch some of the founders to give the newcomer an orientation speech.

{Currently acting under the assumption that the normal dwarves of the fort don't actually know about the whole thing, since your average dwarf has no reason to trust anything from other dimensions, prime examples of such beings consisting of Clowns and highly lethal !!Spoilers!!}

A few minutes later, as you're halfway through your food and booze, a particularly short dwarf wearing what is very clearly, and, given Dwarf Fortress's setting, jarringly, a revolver under his scarred leather apron walks up and, after getting his own plate and mug, sits down next to you.

"Welcome to the fort. You a new migrant wave? Or are ya just passing through?"

{This is, in case it wasn't clear, me.}

He is followed by an elf in full armor, scribbling something in a book with a thoughtful look on his face.

{One wonders if a response is coming, and if not, let's just return to normal journalposting.}

Watching the newcomer eat, while apparently ignoring us, I start talking to Blaze;

"Hey, been meaning to ask you, how bright a light could you make?"

"Mmmmm.....I don't know.......do we have any diamonds stored around here."
