Your merry band of adventurers [Let's just assume we all met up on the road or something because blah blah blah backstory is hard] has traveled to the frontier town of Ilbete in response to a message posted in the mead hall of each of your respective towns or wherever the fuck each of you comes from [Oh god this is getting off to a terrible start I have no idea what I'm doing] asking for brave adventurers to help with a problem in Ilbete. Signed only by "a concerned citizen," the message was vague, but each of you is doing this because reasons. So, anyways, you guys are standing outside of the tavern that the message asked you to meet in, the Baying Hound. From the outside, it looks like any other tavern, constructed of wood and stone. The waxing gibbous moon is out, and you can hear a wolf howling in the distance. The sound of lively conversation can be heard through the thick door of the tavern.

(Sorry for the shitty start, I didn't write anything in the story until after you guys got to the tavern so it'll improve from here.)

What do y'all wanna do?

Wonder where the sign told me to go, who to talk to, or what to do.

[Peradon]

Go inside and ask who wrote the sign.

[Dampe]

Plor kicks open the door to the bar and hollers at the top of his voice: "Who wrote the sign!?" The comforting noise of drinking and merriment ceases, and suddenly, the bar is dead silent. All eyes are on your adventurers.

Whatcha 'gon do?

[Edit: Tawa this is my fault I should have been more clear. The sign posted in your mead hall asks for brave adventurers to come to Ilbete and help with a "problem" in the town. The sign didn't elaborate [this is deliberate, and I was expecting you guys to be a little more discreet XD so this is already going to be very different from how I was planning on this to play, lol.] and was basically signed anonymously. Still, it'd make more sense to just let this do what it do rather than restart]

[Peradon]

"Well?! Who wrote it?!"

[Dampe]

A nasty-looking (and kind of scruffy) adventurer with a crest bearing a wolf on a shield walks up to Plor and shoves him down. "Look, stranger. I don't know what sign you're talking about, but in this town, we don't take kindly to strangers." He spits in Plor's eye.

[Oh my god this is going aaaawful I had not anticipated you guys just walking in there and asking XD XD XD]

[Peradon]

[Why not? The simplest is often the best way.]

"Oh yeah?"

[Losing my shit right now oh my god you fucking zapped his eyes]

The nasty-looking (and kind of scruffy) adventurer puts his hands up to his eyes. "Mother of god," he exclaims, "I'm blind!" He tries to throw a punch at Plor. (16) His wild swing goes well wide of Plor, hitting another patron of the bar in the face. "You bastard!" The bar patron kicks the nasty-looking (and kind of scruffy) adventurer in the groin. Hard. The adventurer falls to the ground howling in pain.

[Peradon]

"Anyone want to tell me who wrote that sign now?!

[Dampe]

Somebody from the crowd that has begun to form around you pulls you off of the nasty-looking (and kind of scruffy) adventurer. As they do so, they slip you a piece of paper folded up into a small square, before fading back into the crowd.

From behind the bar, the barkeep, a bald, muscular man who stands at least six feet tall, speaks. "Vilkas, get up and quit your bellyaching, it's just some minor magic, it'll wear off in a couple of hours. I'll have no fighting in my bar. Now, it's closing time. EVERYBODY OUT!"

As two other nasty-looking (and kind of scruffy) adventurers help guide the blinded one out, he stops. "Turn me to face him." His companions turn him towards Plor. "You'll live to regret the day you heard the name Vilkas Varcolac!" And with that, he leaves the bar.

Your party of adventurers, not wanting to mess with the barkeep, wisely chooses to leave the bar. You are now standing outside the Baying Hound. The moon has risen high in the sky.

The note simply says: "Go around to the back door of the Baying Hound. Be sure you are not followed." Dampe Pandion, your fellow adventurer, lets out a low whistle as your party stands there. "I swear by Fortuna, Plor, I thought that you were going to execute that poor fellow."


[I would act as proxy for other adventurers, but I don't want to take control of the entire thing. I've still got my guy, though, so even if other people don't talk, in non-combat situations, I'll try to just keep the game moving unless it's an important moment, in which case I'll wait for everyone to post what they want to do before going on.]

[Peradon]

"Hehe, well, he needed to be taught a lesson. Anyway, we should probably head to this Baying Hound place."

[I'm not sure if this was made clear at the start, but the Baying Hound was the tavern we were just in. If it wasn't, that's my bad, I think I mentioned it in a waaay earlier post about backstory but other than that I might not've. Anyways, we're already in front of it.]

Make an awareness check. If no one is watching us, head to the back.
