If you're quite new to D&D, you might want to consider running 4E or 5E. Both are easier to run, especially around here.

Mostly because the first two editions are incredibly dense and unforgiving, and the third edition is massive and confusing.

I discourage 4e, because although it is more balanced than 3.5, it has little to do with any other editions of D&D.

But it's your choice, Mr. Gravekeeper. 5e apparently strikes a nice balance between 3.5's general "simulation" feel rather than "let's play a tabletop MMO" that 4th had and 4th's better balance.

Oh yeah, I forgot that AD&D had a crazy high rate of character death. This should be fun.

Thanks. I've got a box of D&D scoped out to nab tomorrow (don't ask where or how I'm getting it), so I'll type out an update after I find out what edition it is.

Uh, I'm actually pretty swamped with other D&D games I'm playing right now (including one on these very forums.). I don't think I'm going to commit to another one without know a bit more about it. Like what the actual version is. I'm not at all well versed in AD&D for example, and don't really have a interest in learning more about it.

I got my paws on Dungeons and Dragons!
(I don't want to say I stole it. Let's use "borrowed indefinitely" for now. If the teachers in the study hall want their Dungeons and Dragons back, (not fucking likely) they know where to find me. Imagining them dressing up and LARPing before they would play D&D amuses me to no end.)
Anyways, Tawarochir (in his infinite all-knowingness) was correct. It is AD&D, so that's figured out.
