Let me see if I can't get surreptitiously get my hands on this Dungeons and Dragons set I came across a while back before I say for sure.

If you go the 3.5 route instead of using the AD&D you have, I'd recommend you start with vanilla 3.5 before moving onto derivatives or variations.

But that's just my advice.
