Oh, goody, other people are doing the warnings for me.
So I feel I have to mention that lately I've stopped checking these forum every 5 seconds because I'm a sad bastard, so I can't really respond very quickly when a troll comes on, so if someone wants to make another thread about troll warnings, I'll be happy to let this one die, just give a link first.

And all at once we saw him. Coming down at the head of a great white host he thundered past us, us who were cowering in our hovels made out of the spam free posts. We saw, and we knew. We knew that this was the one, the one whom had been spoken of in our legends, the Great One, The All-Powerful Toad. He rode past with his host and we followed. Past the Lower Boards full of General Discussion and the Great Sea of Forum Games and Roleplaying. Past the Higher Boards full of strange Other Games. And finally past the lands of the Dwarves who dwell in the Dwarf Fortress. We passed all of this and more until finally we stopped. At the edge of known lands, the Great Bay 12 Game Forums, we stopped.

We saw then our enemies. The spawn of spam and evil posts, and at their head the evil Lord, Dancing Giraffe. Our armies clashed then and many fell, but many more still fought on for we were with our Lord, our Protector the Great Toady One. Many heroes were made that day, two for all who fell. The battle raged for nights and days until finally the Toady One met with the Dancing Giraffe on the field of battle. All stopped then to watch. From the first it was obvious that the Toad would win, for although the Dancing Giraffe fought slyly and with sly tactics the Toad was too valiant to fall. And finally the Great Warhammer that had been named in awe, the Banhammer, descended on Dancing Giraffe and the waves of spam vanished. We returned to our homes then, in all the different boards, and we knew, that if ever spam should threaten again then the Toady One would protect us.

Epic, but this whole thread technically feeds the trolls :(

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Yeah that sucks. I think it was mentioned beforehand but maybe it should be locked until there is an actual troll that can be reported on.

So Toady's solution is to just be on-call 24/7?  That works I guess.

It shouldn't be too hard to keep up during the timeframe. I'm in the same timezone and it's not too late here.

Sure, but like I said, my activity here has been Waaay spottier lately, mostly just from personal reasons, and because of that, I can't really just be on the scene the instant anyone starts trolling.

Let me be the first to point out to y'all that we told you that making this dumb thread does nothing and engaging the troll only made him want to come back for more.

So good job, I hope your e-peens are proud of you.

It isn't about that, it's for people who use the internet in a public place, or might be a bit squeamish.
Actually, you know what? You might be right, okay then, test time, I'm just going to put up a poll here and you guys can choose either one, go ahead.
And you aren't the first, by the way.

Well it's nice to be able to add the prick to ignore before having another look at that shit. He'll keep doing it anyway until he gets bored and finds something else to do.

Already put in poll: I find it annoying and this will be very helpful (don't have to run in to the shock posters to ignore them) but only if it is really stickied. If it isn't in the same place on the board confusing it with other thread titles will be easier.

I think Toady will just have to prevent new accounts from posting links or images, or maybe automatically blocking their ability to post images if they spam. We need more forum moderators though.
