Kull

Kull rests until he feels himself bouncing around gently. He awakens to a thud, as he is placed on a table. The tarp of the tent rests high above him. His vision is marred by blurs. The medical doctor, seeing him awaken, explains several injuries to him, including a broken left foot, and a dislocated right shoulder. He then tenses up and looks saddened. "Also, your companion, in the tower? Our ground troops found him after the raid, head crushed. He's dead. I'm sorry for your loss. Rest here a few days, you'll be sent back to the capital for some bed-and-recovery-time."

Ulric

Ulric continues connecting to the fire, but then he feels the fire bombard him with feelings of anguish and fear. Opening his eyes, he sees Thafrin beating out the fire. "Sorry, but too much meditating on just your first day could not go too well. We'll continue tommorrow." A pageboy arrives, informing Thafrin that the army is packing up and moving out. She tells Ulric to keep close to her, and not lose her in the march.

Xaver

Xaver eats some dried greens sitting nearby, cavern lettuce. He pours some alcohol over it to add flavor, and digs in. However, it seems he applied just a tad too much alcohol, and begins to feel very sleepy. However, on the way to his bed, someone informs him that it is time to pack up the tents and move out. This could not have gone worse.

The next four days

For all but Ulric and Kull, the next four days are generally uneventful. The army packs up the tent, and heads north. The troops exist off hard rations and strong whiskey. However, Ulric practices with Thafrin daily, and begins to feel a stronger connection to this fire. On the third day, under careful instruction from Thafrin, he is able to light a small piece of wood alight with just his mind. Doing so however tires him greatly. Thafrin is surprised by his progress, stating that normally it would take a month for him to make this much headway, and states he must have an affinity for magic.

Kull, on the other hand, is sent back to the Capital of Astoria, to get better medical attention and facilities. He arrives there after three days resting, via the glide. Apparently the glide was overloaded, too, and almost snapped. He is lucky to be alive.

(Expect another update tommorrow, don't have time today. This will describe the end of the march, and for Kull, the medical treatment. Triple post ftw :c)

Kull

Upon arrival to the medical center, Kull is treated instantly to a doctor. The doctor feels around him a bit, then reports that something has gotten lodged in his leg, inbetween two bones, in the joint. He takes out a small knife and makes a few clean incisions. A few minutes of screaming later, the doctor reseals the wound, and decides that heck, he should throw on a few leeches. The doctor reports "Ahh... that did NOT go too well... I'm sorry, but that leg... it didn't work. Try moving it." Kull tries, but is unable to move the joint. "You see, I might have botched that surgery... You'll never walk again. Don't worry, we have plans for soldiers with debilitating injuries. There's two things you can do: Go home, but keep army pay for a year... or you COULD try to pass the commander test... It's very mental and intensive though. I'll report to your commander on your choice."
(Basically giving you the option to either try to be a military officer with a walking impediment, or giving you the choice to start anew with a different dewd.)

The rest of the squad

The army arrives at a completely different structure than they expected: Most of the people in the army were expecting to head to the Sapphire Gem Keep, which was just East of the tower they were just at: However, it appears that they have gone off-route back into Astorian territory. The commander drags his own 100 men over, including the squad. "Alright, listen up. Slight change of plans. We have received word that something horrible has happened down here. We don't know what, all we know is that some breed of underground abomination is annihilating our miners. And if you think it's excessive to bring the WHOLE army here, I can give you the deathcount of the miners: 3,546. A whole town of them was annihilated. Apparently, the beast, or beats, have some ability to drain nearby light. Which means Thafrin, you will be up front. We need the light of your fire to cancel out their dark aura. Alright, troops. Stick together, these tunnels are wide enough to fit twice this many men. We're going in first. Let's move out!"

Kull looks at the ceiling. It's been only one battle, and he still feels to fight. The battlefield could prove a great chance of redemption. Oh, Dele, the poor bastard. Had Kull been more calculating and careful, he'd be alive. So He will change.

Ulric guards Thafrin. She has yet to teach him more... Still, it's in his best interest not to die here, given that king himself own him a favor.

Robb

Robb sticks to the back of his squad, and keeps his eye on the area around him. Soon after, he sees a small green glowing lizard crawling along the roof. It looks harmless, but also rather cute. The roof is high above.

Ulric

Ulric stays to the front with Thafrin. A few minutes into the walk, he begins to see a glow up ahead. He emerges from the tunnel into the well lit mining village beyond, only this village is abandoned. Thafrin cautiously surveys the area. Ulric notices one of the torches mysteriously stop emitting light, then begin emitting light again. Thafrin sees it too, and moves behind Ulric. "Something's out there. I can't see what it is, but something's there."

Kull

Kull, with help from the doctor, makes his way over to a stable. The doctor leaves him there with another man, a scout, after explaining the situation to said scout. The scout tells Kull "Cmon. We should be able to reach your commander by surface-night. We just have to ride quickly. Ever ridden a horse before? Just follow me." He quickly explains the way to ride a horse, then leads Kull out of the city. "Last I heard, they were heading back in Astorian territory, to check out the mines or something."

"Mines, eh?... Let's ride, then."

Ride with the scout

"What's your name, scout?"

Point out the lizard to Thafrin just in case. Also continue watching and staying with the group.

Ulric shoots an arrow to see if the danger is corporeal. There is no chance this could go bad, right?

Kull

Kull continues to ride along with the scout, and asks him his name.

"My name, ser, is Roderick! It appears that YOU are to be a commander! According to that health staff, if you do pass this "Test", I will be among the first in your squad. Which is confusing, as I was already part of a light cavalry squad. I wonder if they'll miss me... Ah, hell. Hey. see that large pillar in the cave ahead? That's where the auxiliary entrance to the mines are. We'll come in just a bit before mine-town if we follow it, but we can't ride full canter. I'll have to dismount and lead your horse through the cave. Shame you can't walk. We'll be at that pillar in what, two, three hours?"

Ulric

Ulric pulls back an arrow, and releases it. He watches the path of the arrow, and it strikes his target. It is most definitely corporeal. Suddenly, the arrow races back towards him, like whatever it got stuck in is rushing towards him! His vision begins to darken as this being of shadows attacks. (AKA Impairment to your accuracy roll c:) However, he manages to see a small glowing lizard fling itself at the creature, which instantly causes the being of darkness's true shape to be revealed. It looks like an angry bull with several horns, and a few other differences he doesn't really have time to fully take note of.

Robb

Robb tries to point out the lizard to Thafrin. However, when he looks over at Thafrin, he notices something unusual. She's shrouded in darkness, as is the rest of the front of the line. A dark flying arrow is speeding towards them, albeit facing in an awkward direction. Suddenly, the glowing lizard flings itself onto a previously invisible creature, which has a dark arrow stuck in it. It appears to be almost cow-like, but with three large horns, and one pissed off face.

"Worry not about my legs, I believe to have an idea."

At the point of walking, use my knuckles to move myself along, like an ape. I assume my legs were removed

(Removed? I made no mention of amputation! How would you have ridden the horse without legs? :P I guess if you want amputations, you could ask later. But even so, it's physically impossible for anyone but the most powerful of people to walk on their hands like that for an extended duration of time.)
