OOC here: I'm pretty sure oozes don't actually have any special resistances to anything but slashing damage. In character here: Smash em and see! Hopefully they need a undisturbed mass to maintain awareness and mobility.

They probably have resistance to both slashing and piercing.

Edit: I hope these are not the "weapon eaty" oozes. If those are still in 5E. Although that would be funny.

If Dwarmin made us face weapon eaty oozes at level one, he's crueler than I imagined he could be :P

Not nearly as cruel as facing them at higher levels, when we have things worth more to loose! (Although my maul does seem to have gotten a free upgrade to super awesome knights maul of awesome at some point.)

How do you fight oozes? I can only assume that fire is the best and only way to really deal with them.

Oh, they're pretty annoying. :P Oozes come in lots of different varieties, for the discerning evil GM. There are buttloads of them-some eat your weapons, armor or just your clothes-some are immune to certain physical attacks, most with some sort elemental immunity, some (like these) to split into a bunch of slimes when you hit them in a certain way. Lots of the have stealth and squidgyness so they can detect and follow you through anywhere-though at a short range. They do tend to be very slow and easy to outrun. They're much nastier ambushing your party in dungeons, combined with traps. These ones in the open are pretty easy to deal with...but they tend to be very nasty in melee.

*rubs hands*

It's where those arcana checks shine! You can figure out what they are before you go wading in.

Also, I'm giving you all this turn for free because I forgot to roll starting INIT again. Enjoy!

Akira sighs and starts sneaking closer to the ledge.
As mentioned, it's a jelly. Sneaking does nothing. I don't think it'd have vitals for a sneak attack, either.

Hopefully the elf will tell us not to use piercing and such on them, so that we don't accidentally kill ourselves via slimeoverload.

Yeah, you'd not be able to 'sneak' in the normal way-you'd have find some way to cover your thermal signature, predator style. Good luck explaining that to Akira.

As for the other...there are no rules in 5e saying you can't sneak attack everything, that I've found. 'Attacking with distraction' is good enough for me.

Would they really split from an arrow? It seems they're far too large for that.

It's like, if you put a hole through them, they fall into two pieces.

When you say it like that it sounds really weird.
