As much as I hate to spend a lot of money for what I hope to only have to do once, all this stuff seems really useful, and sorta a reasonable price.

Well, this isn't exactly a one-terrain campaign, for sure...

Edit: Also the climbers kit and portable shelter are both useful in general.

Yeah, you guys sort of have to choose a direction too and stock up on goods. I didn't want KJ run out unprepared and get dead'd. Technically, Akira is running off into the forest with no allies, no food, no gear, no tent and no map.

...unless that's what he wants to do...

At least it solves the issue of the tents taking 2-3, that only averages to 2.5, when we had six! Now that Akira is dead we have have 5 members, and can comfortably fit 2.5 people in each tent.

On the climbing gear and such, Sarco can probably carry someone else with him if they don't weight a ton. If anyone doesn't see themselves being able to climb.

From what I know of climbing (virtually nothing) the strongest climber of a group goes up first, and attaches his line-the others follow along. The last person up gathers up the rope and pitons as the entire group ascends.

It doesn't take a skill check to just ascend a rope, so no one will be left on the ground.

Well, that sounds good to me (I also know nothing of climbing though!). Although does that mean that everyone should get a climbing kit to hook themselves into the line?

I'd say a single kit would be enough to hook the team up to a 25 foot stretch. If you wanted to hook two kits together for a longer line that you could leave in place, you would need more than one.
