Actually, you'll find there's far more girls on the forums than you'd think. It's just that we don't really talk about gender here.

About 13% of registered members are female IIRC. Though according to Toady most spambots are female, sooo...

Also is the issue where people don't necessarily state their sex.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Sorry for assuming!

You are definitely not the only lady on the DF forums, and not even the only one you've met! Hi. ;)

( > w < )   Oh!!! Cool! Another girl who likes DF! Geez, I shouldnt have assumed either!

Yeah, I get that, I probably wouldnt have brought it up either if not for the comment I was responding too, its not the sort of thing thats really important in normal conversation XD

I only usually notice it cause I have like 6 brothers and sisters and all three of my sisters dont play DF and all three of my brothers do! So mostly I get excited when meeting another girl who plays it.

Can anyone list new features that have become apart of DF ever since it came back from those years without a single update?

Everything is now "terrifying".

That's ok though, because "It was inevitable".

In case you don't know what I'm on about - all sentient creatures now talk to you and others around them about how they are feeling in the context of the world around them. Because they live in Dwarf Fortress it is perhaps unsurprising that their experience of life consists of terror and resignation to their doom.

The dwarves mind is also a lot more complex than it used to be, making in more interesting to read their thoughts. Except for the constant horror, which maybe needs to be toned down a tad.

It's 13.2:1, there's 43542 members so there's at least 3350.

As for broken, i stared playing DF back in the days of DF 0.28.181.40d and adventurer mode was more than playable.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

The way I play advmode, it was pretty much universally terrible for me before 0.31.17, since there were no aimed attacks before then.

Wow!  Family Dwarf Fortress!  Wish that happened in my family.
Anyone else inagining a family gathering around a dinner table and talking about what their Dwarf citizens and adventurers killed an how they did it?
Dramatization:
"My adventurer bit a bogeyman's hand off."
"I body swapped with DFhack to a dragon and bit my old adventurer's head off."
"My militia commander bit a troll and its siege went running away."
"I dug too deep. Managed to last a little while against the Demons, though."
"I used a glitch to play as a Demon"
"Just lost a fort to my latest !!SCIENCE!! project. Werebeast supersoldiers are pretty tricky."
"I just lost 2 Dwarves when a Werelizard bashed their skulls in with an empty sock!"

Must be interesting.
