"Uh, well, I have my doubts but if you say so... but I'm gonna keep my eye on them, juss in case!" He spoke out loud and then scratched his cheek.

[GiglameshDespair]

"Enjald, right? I'm Lady Tirena Nerarand. What brings you here, anyway? Seems you've got a bad sense of timing."

[Swordstar]

"It's nice of you to worry about me, sir, but I'll be fine."

[UXLZ]

Hearing Enjald talking about wanting to kill them, Lilie ratatat-tats Morde with questions. She doesn't really seem to want them answered right away, but they're things that have been troubling her.

"Are Vampires inherently evil? Usually evil? That fear comes from somewhere so where? The only ones I've met are you and myself, are there others? How many? Where are they? What are they like? How did they get there? Where do we come from, is vampirism a curse, blessing, mutation or something else? What is our culture? What are our traditions? What are our beliefs? Do we have a god? Do we have a religion?

I've become something different to what I used to be and I don't know anything about who I am. I've only heard bedtime stories and a few things from my father."

[Swordstar]

Walking over to the blind archer and a new face, Vara extended her hand.

"Hi. Are you from the village? You haven't been with our group before this. Tirena, how did the fight go on the other side of the river? It wasn't an easy fight here, but we managed to make it out alright."

[Haspen]

"Huh?"

"No, I'm travelling around. Kinda hoped to get some warm meal for free cuz I was robbed on the way here but then, bandits, and I had to fight on empty stomach."

[Swordstar]

"Ha, well, I'm sure that we can find some sort of meal for you, especially if you helped us out. You could probably also stay with us. Get lots of food and a place to stay. Though it'd probably require more fighting and that you became on of the Baron's men."

[GiglameshDespair]

Tirena's easy smile dropped away.

"...we were too slow. They managed to burn some of the village before we could get there. We didn't suffer any casualities in our fighting troops, though, in part due to Caroline here."

[Swordstar]

Vara placed a gentle hand on Tirena's shoulder.

"I'm sorry. I wish... At least you managed to save most of the village, including the supply center. With that, they'll be able to make it through the winter that's to come and prosper even. We will mourn the dead, but..."

I would tell her not to blame herself, but how can I when I blame myself for my brother's death...

[Haspen]

He thought about it for a moment.

"Are you recruiting me into a mercenary band or some other army pledged to fight and die for their leader while their lives are full of strife, misery and poverty?"

[Swordstar]

"Well, if you heard that count, we've been sent off to war. Which means that the Baron will be looking for more men, I suspect. You're clearly a good fighter, so why shouldn't I ask if you're interested?"

[GiglameshDespair]

"Apparently fighting in a warband is great for your romantic chances, too."

[Haspen]

Order of the count? Going to the war? Being important? Changing the tide of history!?

My first group to join and already such an honor, eeeee!'

"I'm in! Just give me food and bed to keep my arm ready for swinging!"

And the girls in the group are so cute, too!'

Vara blinked in confusion at Tirena and then turned to the new man.

"I... uhm... Ok... Err, I'm not sure what Tirena is talking about with the romance but... welcome to the group? You should go talk to Charles, err, the Baron. The name is Vara by the way."

[GiglameshDespair]

Tirena could have sworn she heard a sound, like the tinkling of crystal or tiny bells for a second, before she dismissed the idea. Maybe it was something from the village.

"You became... remarkably enthusiastic remarkably quickly." She laughed at Vara's confusion. "Don't tell me you've never heard the stories. FIghting side by side, building friendships, impressing the fine ladies of war with your skill... it's a natural place for love - and more interesting consequences - to blossom."
