Your engraver has carved a track through a Bomrek Morulfarash!
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:39:22 am »

I saw the warning message...

I checked the gamelog:
Bomrek Morulfarash has engraved a masterpiece!

So the message means some dorf destroyed his artwork. But "through a Bomrek Morulfarash"? :P

Was that the name of the masterpiece, or did it get cut off by the text being too long.

Arts lingo - a masterwork by a legendary artist can be named after them - "a" Picasso, "a" Stradivari etc.

Yeah, I thought only artifacts can be named after their creaters.

The piece had its own name--referring to it this way just places it in the body of work of a given artist. Since it's a masterpiece, destroying it just gave that artist a bad thought...potentially a very bad thought if they haven't created many masterpieces. The lesson here is to avoid engraving where you plan to dig out carve tracks.

...or if you must carve tracks, dfhack > tiletypes > paint sp normal should let you recarve it without destroying the artwork... well, it lets you resmooth it, I assume you could put a track down this way as well.
